This Story of Carrie Fisher Standing Up to a Sexual Predator Will Make You Miss Her Even More

Carrie Fisher was a badass. This story of how she stood up to an Oscar-winning producer and sexual predator will make you miss her even more, as it’s been almost one year since her passing.

Fisher’s longtime friend Heather Ross sat down with Tucson, Arizona’s 94.9 Mix FM this week. During their conversation, Ross brought up a Weinstein-like experience when she moved to Los Angeles from Tucson back in the ’90s.

A Hollywood-producer asked her out to dinner, and then sexually assaulted her in the car.

Ross said, “It happened so quickly, that I was ashamed of myself and I thought that I did something wrong by meeting up him and having dinner with him that I was asking for it. So I stayed quiet for years.”

But she did tell Carrie Fisher.

“When I told her about this, she was very protective of me and more scared for my safety than anything,” Ross said. Fisher, who knew the producer personally, felt that it was her duty to do something about it. So she paid the producer a visit two weeks later.

Fisher relayed the story to her friend. “I just saw the [producer] at Sony studios,” Fisher told Ross. “I knew he would probably be there, so I went to his office and personally delivered a Tiffany’s box wrapped with the white bow. It was a cow tongue from Jerry’s Famous Deli with a note that said, ‘If you ever touch my darling Heather or any other woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box.”

“That’s just how she was,” Ross said. “I miss her dearly. She stood up for people.”

“It felt validating to know that this woman who I love as a friend was not just a fake Hollywood friend. She was true. She did that all on her own. I never asked for anything. That was all her. That’s who Carrie Fisher was. She put things out there and in your face.”
