This Christmas, Shop at the AFA’s ‘Anti-Christian Boycott List’

Ah, the American Family Association, that last bastion of good Christian values. They’re the U.S.-based (headquartered in Mississippi) nonprofit that opposes porn, abortion and—naturally—homosexuality. As an organization, they’re known for their boycotts and lobbying of the GOP, but for the purposes of your annual holiday shopping, just know that they’re classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Basically, they hate us LGBTQs.

Which is all the more reason we should push forward our “gay agenda” by pissing on their big holiday plans, right?

Here’s what the AFA had to say in a new press release:

As the 2016 Christmas shopping season begins full swing, AFA has prepared its annual Naughty or Nice retailer list. We have taken the top national retailers and reviewed their websites, media advertising and in-store signage in an effort to help you know which companies are Christmas-friendly.

There are secular forces in our country that hate Christmas because the word itself is a reminder of Jesus Christ. They want to eradicate anything that reminds Americans of Christianity. That is why it is important to remind governments and companies to keep the word Christmas alive. AFA wants to keep Christ in Christmas and Christmas in America.

AFA reviewed up to nine areas to determine if a company is “Christmas-friendly.” Print media (newspaper inserts), broadcast media (radio/television), website and/or personal visits to the store helped determine a retailer’s rating. If a company’s ad has references to items associated with Christmas (trees, wreaths, lights, etc.), it was considered as an attempt to reach “Christmas” shoppers.

Included with the release is a handy guide to national retailers: those who are Christmas-friendly/”nice” and those who hate the baby Jesus’s birthday/”naughty” along with “marginal” companies that exist somewhere in the middle.

Since there are likely several AFA followers who will be boycotting the org’s “naughty” list, maybe the LGBTQ community should throw these businesses some love. After all, many of these companies have engaged in LGBT-inclusive ad campaigns and in-store signage.

This holiday season, spend your money in a “naughty” way, shopping at Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, The Gap, Nordstrom and Victoria’s Secret! Whatever it is they’ve done to grace the AFA’s naughty list, we salute them!

Interestingly, one business that is nowhere to be found on the “naughty/nice” spectrum is Target, a company the American Family Association finds to be absolutely horrid due to its inclusiveness of gays, lesbians and the trans community via its dressing room policies and its having dropped the use of genders in the kids department. The AFA does state on its website, “Target’s continued refusal to protect women and girls in bathrooms/fitting rooms in their stores means the retailer doesn’t deserve your Christmas business.” We say, shop away!

A complete look at the AFA’s nice/marginal/naughty list is below. It should be noted that what the AFA calls “nice businesses” aren’t necessarily undeserving of your money, though some are most definitely not fans of ‘the gay.’ (For the love of god, stay away from Hobby Lobby and Cracker Barrel!)

  • NWaff

You silly people, don’t you know that SPLC is an anti-Christian hate group.

  • Steven Visek

Using the SPLC as a source is about as credible as using the KKK. NWaff is correct, SPLC is a hate group themselves; they have been completely discredited for years. But then again, looking more closely, it is becoming obvious to me that your site is a hate-site. Sad.

  • CriticalDragon1177

Oh grow up. Comparing the SPLC to the KKK is a joke, its the exact opposite of the KKK. Also Unicorn Booty is a “hate site?” Wow, you are a joke.

  • CriticalDragon1177

    Unicorn Booty,

Excellent suggestion. I will consider it. Ticking off wingnuts is something that I love.

  • Steven Visek

High praise given the source. Thank you!

  • CriticalDragon1177

Oh wah wah wah, those horrible gays don’t like people condemning them for who they love. Grow up.

  • Steven Visek

It is bigoted to label all gay people as “horrible.” Nearly every one that I’ve known have been wonderful people, including my nephew, who I love very much and look forward to participating in his pending nuptials. We are very excited that he is marrying a truly wonderful man. Of course there are bad apples in every bunch, proven by this hateful site.

  • CriticalDragon1177

And what exactly is it that makes Unicorn Booty a “hate site” in your eyes, other than the fact that they used the SPLC as a source, and you don’t like them for some reason?

  • Steven Visek

Is that a joke? Let’s see, just taking a quick look you love to label everyone who dares have a different view as a “Hater” and then use that as the excuse to spew hate at them. Nice. Mike Pence, the AFA, and most evangelicals may have views different than yours…that doesn’t make them haters. But you use your incorrect belief that all these folks who see things differently than you are haters to support you hating them.

And the SPLC has been an actively anti-Christian group for a very long time. Their history of intolerance and harassment is well documented. Thankfully most legitimate news organizations and reporters have figured it out and aren’t fooled by their benign name anymore.

  • CriticalDragon1177

They only attack people who attack being gay or LGBT as evil or a sin, and the SPLC is not anti Christian. They don’t attack moderate or mainstream Christian organizations that don’t demonize other people.
