Gay Disney Fan Art: 5 Times Hunky Princes Got Hot For Each Other

This post is also available in: Spanish Portuguese

Disney has not yet had the chutzpah to actually feature a same-sex couple onscreen — sure, they had a same-sex male couple in Frozen and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment of same-sex dancing in their live-action Beauty and the Beast, but those pale in comparison to the non-stop straight romances they’ve put onscreen for ages. So it’s no wonder that many artists have constantly made their own gay Disney fan art.

Disney says they’re open to having a same-sex princess sometime in the future, but until then, let’s enjoy some gay Disney fan art while we imagine two princes in the Magic Kingdom living happily ever after. You can click on any of the headings below to see more artwork.

1. Disney’s royal dudes get some pop-culture romance

One of our favorite sites just turned us on to Andhika Muksin, an artist who photoshops Disney heads onto real-life bodies from photos and film stills. His collection has a lot of Disney princesses inserted into the ’90s coming-of-age teen classic Clueless, but his artwork also features some gay male couples cuddling and having fun together — nice!

2. A gallery of same-sex smooches

Though we were bummed to disprove the rumors about Disney’s first same-sex animated film romance, we felt joy when we discovered artist José Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros’ many drawing of same-sex Disney characters kissing. His full collection even had lesbian couples — excellent!

3. A glimpse into the gay dating lives of Disney princes

Isaiah Stephens let us see Tarzan lusting over Hercules and Prince Eric getting into bed with Prince Phillip. His artworks were as intimate as they were steamy.

Later on, Stephens mashed up RuPaul’s Drag Race and Disney. He had Beast and Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, Milo from Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Aladdin turning out some admittedly butch runway looks, but we still loved it. When was the last time a Disney prince wore a dress for fun?

4. Disney’s princes become sexy pin-ups

Alfredo Roagui took a different tack by drawing gay pin-up hunks in the Disney style. For example, he showed a ginger haired merman like Ariel, kissing a hunky shirtless bearded man (Prince Eric?). He also had shirtless dudes wearing Mickey Mouse ears and a few modern takes on other princes.

5. Prince Eric And Dmitri from Anastasia have an epic romance

A video mash-up artist called The Nameless Doll made a really excellent video that depicted a lifelong romance between Dmitri from Anastasia and Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid. It even ended with the heartbreaking reveal that Eric had gotten cancer and went through chemotherapy.

Sadly, FOX blocked the original video because of copyright, so all we have left is this animated GIF above that gives you a taste of their amazing love story.
