On Wednesday evening, approximately 140 attendees gathered at Therapy in New York City for “Gay Sex: A Raw Conversation.” Produced by Hornet, the event brought gay men together in one space to talk openly and honestly about gay sex.

The evening featured a panel discussion between five diverse thought leaders in the queer community, each offering their own unique perspectives drawn from lived experiences and years of work.

Panelists included:

Jesus Barrios, MPH, Supervisor, Prevention and Outreach, Callen Lorde
Demetre Daskalakis, MD, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
Noel Gordon, Senior Program Specialist, HIV Prevention and Health Equity, Human Rights Campaign
Jeremiah Johnson, HIV Prevention Research and Policy Coordinator, Treatment Action Group
Boomer Banks, fashion designer, adult film performer and sexual health advocate

“This event was an an opportunity for gay men to come together to talk about their sex and sexuality,” says Hornet Senior Health Innovation Strategist Alex Garner, who moderated the thought-provoking conversation. “The large turnout and the enthusiasm of those present demonstrated that this is an immense appetite among gay men to have honest and open conversations about the sex we are having. Everyone there and all over have the power to prioritize gay sex and gay men’s health and cultivate a narrative that is affirmative and empowering around our sexualities.”
