Jimmy Fallon finally did something right on his show last night when he invited trans comedian Patti Harrison to read Donald Trump’s vile ban on transgender service members in the military.
“Now, I don’t necessarily want to serve in the military, but I want the right to serve, you know,” Harrison confessed. “It’s like, I don’t want to go to your baby shower, but I want the invite.”
Addressing Trump’s comments that transgender service members would be a dangerous distraction in the Armed Forces, Harrison jokes, “If you constantly draw attention to yourself, spend all day distracting everyone and cost tax payers millions of dollars, the perfect job for you isn’t the military. It’s the president of the United States.”
Stephan Colbert also had a few words for Donald Trump.
“I began my day today like I often begin my days by checking Donald Trump’s Twitter feed to see how far the crazy has spread,” said Colbert. “And today, I really think he’s off his meds. Because, today, he went from crazy to cruel.”
He also spoke directly to Caitlyn Jenner.
“The whole thing took Trump supporter Caitlyn Jenner by surprise.”
After reading one of her tweets, he said to her: “Caitlyn, I don’t know if I am the first person to break this you, but he is a lier. I know he said he was your friend, but he was using you girl. You deserve better!”
Samantha Bee also weighed in on the madness on her show, shining a light on Scaramucci’s new role in the West Wing and how that has had an impact on Trump.
“I know you don’t know or care how government works, that has been made abundantly care, but we don’t make bullshit discriminatory laws on Twitter,” Bee said.
“Firing thousands of active duty service members in the middle of the big push against ISIS was Trump’s version of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’” she added. “He didn’t ask anyone if it was a good idea and he didn’t tell anyone he was going to do it. But that is how we roll now.”
