Hornet’s ‘Jocks Got Talent’ Brought New Yorkers Out to Show Their Skills Off the Field

On Friday, March 24, gay social networking app Hornet brought lots of jocks out to Hudson Terrace in Hell’s Kitchen for Jocks Got Talent.

Hundreds of New Yorkers packed the spacious event venue first to watch the season premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Afterthe competition began where seven representatives from different LGBT sports teams got up on stage to sing, dance, lip synch and cheer their way to the grand prize.

The groups who participated were:

Cheer New York
Front Runners
Gotham Volleyball
OutCycling
Gotham Knights Rugby
Gay Football League
Big Apple Softball League

Up for grabs were not only the bragging rights, but also $1,000 and 40% of the door.

Hosted by Brita Filter, the evening was chock full of a diverse array of talents from live singing Amy Winehouse wannabes to amateur drag queens getting up in the gig for the first time.

While the audience cheered and roared after each performances, the judges table would have the final say. In the end, Inita D from Cheer New York won the grand prize with her high-flying cheerleading medley.

Starting next week, event producer Vincent Cooper moves his weekly Drag Race viewing party to the Ace Hotel. This coincides with Lady Liberty, a weekly drag competition that Hornet proudly sponsors.
