A Gay Porn Star Was Charged With Murdering a Surgeon and Stealing Nearly $600K in Valuables

Jordan Joplin, the birth name of a 32-year-old porn performer who performed at several mainstream gay studios under various aliases, has been accused of murdering a surgeon in the Alaskan town of Ketchikan.

On Mar. 27, 2017, Ketchikan police found surgeon Eric Garcia Llorens dead in the upstairs living room of his home, after receiving a call from Joplin, who described himself as a “close friend” and expressed worry about Llorens’ 10-day absence. Police considered the death suspicious, partly because of several valuable items found missing from the surgeon’s home.

Police arrested Joplin on Mar. 31, 2017 in Seattle under charges of first-degree theft after Joplin arrived at a shipping center to pick up the shipments of the surgeon’s stolen goods. Police believe that Joplin transported the items in the surgeon’s vehicle and then shipped them to himself before leaving Alaska.

Among the items missing from the surgeon’s home were collections of gold coins, hard liquor, wine, computers, a flat screen TV and valuable watches all totally over half a million dollars. Most of the items were recovered from Joplin’s shipment. Police also say that Joplin extracted nearly $37,000 from the surgeon’s bank account.

Joplin told police that he had visited Llorens on Mar. 16, 2017. Police found that the bank account withdrawals and shipments of stolen items both occurred the next day.

Deputy Police Chief Josh Dossett says that Joplin was present for the discovery of Llorens’ body on Mar. 27, 2017, having let them into the surgeon’s home. “He was very aloof,” Dossett said. “The way he was acting with this female he had brought up with him, I guess overly romantic with her right there in the driveway. This was supposed to be his good friend that has passed away.”

In July 2017, police charged Joplin with first- and second-degree murder charges for the surgeon’s death. Joplin pleaded not guilty. His trial has been set for mid-April 2018. He’s currently in jail with a $200,000 bail.
