In a recent interview, reality TV show alumna Kelly Osbourne came out as queer and said “everyone’s gay.” But she also denounced young women who, she says, pretend to be gay.
On Being “Open”
In an interview with PrideSource, Kelly Osbourne said she has never been in a relationship with a woman, but adds, “I don’t know that it’s not a possibility.” She also said, “I was disappointed that I wasn’t gay.”
She went on to say, “I’m open to loving anybody. It’s about the person. I don’t think it’s about the sexuality at all.”
She doesn’t outright say she’s bi though. Many people don’t, even when they are attracted to more than one gender; they might shun labels altogether.
“Sexuality is a word I try not to even define the way the world defines it,” Osbourne says. “It’s the person who you are sexually attracted to.”
Osbourne found out her mother, Sharon, was also open to the idea of relationships with women. Kelly asked her, “Would you be the butch one? Come on, tell me, which one would you be?”
Reportedly, Sharon’s response was, “Oh, shut up, Kelly!”
On How Everyone Is Gay
In response to a question about how she recently wore a hat bearing the words “I Am Gay,” Kelly Osbourne said, “You know my honest opinion? Everybody’s gay. It is a strictly human thing. You can’t put a gender on love.”
On How Some Girls Actually Aren’t Gay but They Say They Are and That’s Bad
“I also don’t like it when people claim to be gay and then not,” says Kelly. “There’s this whole generation of young Hollywood girls who can’t find love where they think it’s supposed to be, and then they come out being gay and two weeks later they have a boyfriend.”
Osbourne doesn’t name names, but she says that young female celebrities are the biggest offenders when it comes to fake gayness:
I’ll tell you who’s the worst with it: young female celebrities. And I’m like, I know you. I’ve known you pretty much since before you used to shit outside of a diaper. You are not gay! But I think outing somebody in that way is just as bad as outing somebody who has not come out of the closet. It’s one of those things I have to keep to myself… and it drives me fucking crazy!
Wait, didn’t Kelly Osbourne just talk about the fact that she wore a hat that said “I Am Gay” but hadn’t dated any women?
