Kink.com’s Bondage Castle Will Shut Down Next Month

BDSM porn studio Kink.com’s headquarters at the San Francisco Armory will shoot its final film in February, according to the Guardian. The studio will continue to produce porn, but not at the massive, castle-like structure it has called home for over 10 years.

The Armory will still maintain Kink.com offices, however, and remain the “base of operations” according to porn star Jessie Colter.

In addition to its hetero content, Kink.com runs gay channels Bound Gods, Bound in Public, Men on Edge and many more of your favorites.

The Armory is shutting down filming for financial reasons, as San Francisco’s rents keep rising and the ubiquity of free online porn continues to hurt content creators’ profits.

The Guardian writes:

“A lot of the Castro was built on the back of porn companies. But one by one, they upped and left,” said [CEO Peter] Acworth. “There’s so much content out there. The human body only has so many orifices and so many limbs you can tie in so many ways.”

The Armory’s porn studio is just one of many of the Castro District’s queer spaces to fall victim to the tech boom. Rest in peace, bondage castle.
