Mike Pence’s Aspen Neighbors Troll Him Hard With a ‘Make America Gay Again’ Pride Flag

Mike Pence’s neighbors in Aspen, Colorado just trolled the anti-LGBT Vice President with a rainbow banner that reads “Make America Gay Again.” News of the trolling went viral, so much so that “Make America Gay Again” is now trending on Twitter.

Neighbors of a home near Aspen where Pence and his wife, Karen Sue, are staying posted the message sometime last week on a stone pillar that sits at the end of driveways to both homes.

“You couldn’t miss it,” Pitkin County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Buglione said Friday. He also told The Aspen Times that the couple who live in the home brought chili and corn muffins to deputies and Secret Service agents posted at the foot of the driveway.

The Secret Service agents were not at all disturbed about the banner, Buglione said. Sheriff Joe DiSalvo said one of his deputies was present when the man who lives in the home came out and first draped the banner over the stone pillar.

“He was real sheepish and thought he might be confronted by the Secret Service or deputies who’d tell him he couldn’t do it,” DiSalvo said. “When they said, ‘We’re not here to control your free speech rights,’ they came out with chili and began feeding them.”

“They’ve been really nice to us.”

The residents of the home did not respond to requests from the media asking for a comment about the “Make American Gay Again” banner. However, late Friday night, a resident of the home emailed The Aspen Times a brief correction to DiSalvo’s comment.

“(The banners) were actually hung by the daughters of the couple who live in the home, and one of their girlfriends (I’m one of them!) with the full support of their parents,” Shannon Slade wrote in the email.

According to a report published by The New Yorker back in October, Donald Trump joked during a meeting with a legal scholar that Mike Pence wants to kill all gay people.

Just how anti-LGBT is Mike Pence?

In 2006, Pence supported a constitutional amendment that would have defined marriage as between a man and a woman. Citing a Harvard researcher, Pence said in his speech, “societal collapse was always brought about following an advent of the deterioration of marriage and family.”  According to Mike Pence gay is a choice, and he has said keeping gays from marrying is not discrimination but an enforcement of “God’s idea.”

The Mike Pence gay hate is so strong it nearly destroyed his state’s economy. As governor of Indiana in 2015, Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, a bill that would have given people the right to discriminate against LGBT people for religious reasons.

The rest of the nation was disgusted. Apple, the NCAA and other major business and political leaders denounced the bill. Soon people started threatening to boycott the state. To keep all of that money in Indiana, Pence had to amend the bill to make it a bit less homophobic.

Over and over again, Pence has voted to prohibit same-sex marriage and permit anti-LGBT discrimination. Pence has also fought to defund programs that help prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS and instead use government money to “change the sexual behavior” of LGBT people, a comment widely interpreted to mean paying for gay conversion therapy.
