#ManCrushMonday: ‘Nocturnal Animals’ Star Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Photos)

Chances are you’re familiar with Aaron Taylor-Johnson from one of two roles: Kick-Ass, in which the now-26-year-old actor played the teen superhero in two films alongside Chloë Grace-Moretz, or as superhero speedster Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now the British actor returns to the Hollywood spotlight following his performance in Tom Ford’s latest film, Nocturnal Animals.

While Ford’s sophomore effort—in theaters starting Dec. 9—wasn’t our favorite film of the year by far (the dialogue was unusually hokey, the visual aesthetic was extremely heavy-handed and much of the film bordered on ‘torture porn’), the project did have two notable standouts: Abel Korzeniowski’s score (it rather blatantly rips off Bernard Hermann’s work for Hitchcock, but is beautiful nonetheless), and Taylor-Johnson’s performance as grungy Texas sociopath Ray. In fact, despite seeing Taylor-Johnson’s name in the opening titles, it took this writer until the film’s third act to actually clock the sexy Brit as the film’s antagonist. (A credit to Taylor-Johnson’s skill.)

Come to think of it, Taylor-Johnson has never disappointed in his on-screen roles, which is but one of the many reasons why he’s this week’s choice for #ManCrushMonday.
