This Violent Neo-Nazi Leader Just Came Out as Gay and Jewish After Being Bashed (Video)

A high-profile Neo-Nazi leader has turned his back on hate after coming out as gay and revealing he has Jewish heritage.

Kevin Wilshaw was a prominent figure of the National Front in the 1980s. However, even as recently as earlier this year, he was speaking at extreme right events.

Wilshaw opened up to Channel 4 News to explain he’s given up his violent past — which included smashing a chair over someone’s head, vandalizing a mosque in the early ’90s and online race hate offenses for which he was arrested for earlier this year.

“It’s a terribly selfish thing to say but it’s true. I saw people being abused, shouted at, spat at in the street. It’s not until it’s directed at you that you suddenly realize that what you’re doing is wrong,” Wilshaw told the news show.

Wilshaw came under attack from members of his own side when they suspected he was gay. He says, “On one or two occasions in the recent past I’ve actually been the recipient of the very hatred of the people I want to belong to … if you’re gay it is acceptable in society. But with [this] group of people it’s not acceptable. I found on one or two occasions when I was suspected of being gay, I was subjected to abuse.”

Wilshaw says he’s now ready to commit to fighting back against the people he joined for so many years. He says, “I want to do some damage as well, not to ordinary people but the people who are propagating this kind of rubbish. [I] want to hurt them, show what it’s like for those who are living a lie and be on the receiving end of this type of propaganda. I want to hurt them.”
