Fellow Gay Porn Star Smacks Down Colby Keller’s Trump Vote as Privileged and Misguided

In October 2016, bearded porn star and occasional artist Colby Keller decided to vote for current U.S. President Donald Trump in a misguided attempt to reform America by destabilizing it. He has since tried to defend his vote several times with explanations like, “Things will get a lot worse, and that will get us to a point where we need to be.”

We weren’t buying it and neither is gay porn star Wesley Woods. Woods tore apart Keller’s reasoning a public Facebook post.

Woods begins:

My relationships with those that are socially disempowered and highly impacted by politics, makes me more sensitive and offended by white masculine privilege, like that shown by fellow gay pornstar – Colby Keller – a man who obviously lives in an ivory tower without any minority friends.

During a July 2017 interview with web personality Chris Baker, Colby tried to explain his vote by saying, “I think the problem is that I don’t support Trump, [but] I did vote for Trump. That’s the distinction.”

But Woods responds by writing:

The problem with this ‘distinction’ and ideology is that there isn’t one. A vote IS support. A vote isn’t anything more or anything less than SHOWING support of that candidate. When the votes are counted and collected there’s no fairy vote mother who comes by and asks your stance on the nominee- you stated it, with your vote.

Woods implies that Keller’s vote came from a protected perch of privilege

Calling Keller “a white man who can blend REAL QUICK with his surroundings” who has nothing to lose, he says to Keller:

You will never fear being shot by a police officer, you will never fear being grabbed by the pussy, you will never fear being mocked for your disabilities, you will never fear what others think of you based on the color of your skin, you will never fear being an outsider.

He does give Keller some benefit of the doubt by stating:

I don’t believe Colby Keller stands behind his vote anymore — I think he’s trapped, and instead of apologizing he stands behind his vote adding to the offensiveness of the current political debate. It is a disastrous attempt at being truly radical.

He then adds, “A true radical works on undoing systematic and root causes of systemic problems and cultural injustices, but Colby Keller is further adding to it.”

Ultimately, Woods encourages people to stop watching Keller’s porn scenes, writing:

Please do not think the porn you watch, just like all other art and media outlet, does not have an impact — your orgasm is not neutral — you are directly supporting him, his platform and therefore his politics. You are acknowledging and allowing Keller’s ideas to further impact those marginalized.

Keller is an accelerationist, a flawed anti-LGBTQ philosophy

As we wrote earlier, Keller seems to be an accelerationist, “a person who believes that making things really bad really quickly will motivate people to finally have a glorious revolution that will create a better society.” But his theory “ignores the fact… that living in an oppressive hell hole does not spur people into a glorious revolution.”

After all, “living in an oppressive late capitalist hell world makes a person malnourished, sick and exhausted, which is a terrible condition in which to fight a revolution.”

Ultimately XYZ is right. Keller’s decision came from a callous position of privilege and treats women, people of color, LGBTQ people, poor people and every other marginalized group — the very people that a progressive is supposed to care about — like collateral damage.

In his interview with Baker, Keller admitted, “I’ve kind of blown my social capital wad, so I don’t know if [continuing art projects like his Colby Does America cross-country couch-surfing art project] is possible at this time. But maybe. Maybe in the future people will learn to forgive me.”
