Target Field Employee Warns Lesbian Couple To ‘Adhere To Ten Commandments’ After Kiss

Target: Actively discriminating against you in yet another business venture.

Target Field (Yes, THAT Target) is home to the Minneapolis Twins, as well as an unappetizing amount of anti-LGBT discrimination these days.

According to Taylor Campione and Kelsi Culpepper, they were a little late to the Twins game at Target Field on May 27, 2011. Culpepper stopped to go to the restroom and gave Campione a little kiss.

Then, Culpepper said a security guard came up to her.

“I saw you kissing that girl, you can’t do that,” the guard said.

Campione told the guard, she could kiss whoever she wanted to, the guard allegedly replied, “Well, we don’t play grab a** here.”

Campione told Culpepper, who then confronted the guard and said, “I don’t understand what’s wrong with kissing my girlfriend.”

They said the guard replied, “Well here in the stadium, we adhere to the 10 Commandments.”

They spoke to the manager and were not satisfied. They want a “zero tolerance policy at Target Field, and have filed a complaint with the State Human Rights Department.

Oh Target…there you go, stepping in it again. A representative for Target Field and the Twins confirmed that while the security guard in question has had a written and verbal reprimand added to his personnel file, he has not been fired for openly discriminating against the lesbian couple.

Furthermore, Target Field has ignored requests to add that zero tolerance policy for human rights violations that the women have requested. All of this news unfortunately has come out on the very day that Beyonce announced an exclusive partnership with Target for the deluxe release of her latest album, 4.

Did she learn absolutely nothing from Lady Gaga dissolving her own contract with Target over failure to implement fair LGBT equality practices? Attention musicians, stop partnering with this repeatedly anti-gay company!

Taylor Campione and Kelsi Culpepper are expected to file an official discrimination suit against Target Field shortly.

  • I used to like you, Target, before finding out what a bunch of douchebags you are

  • I think this is a bit overblown.  First, Target just has the naming rights to the stadium; they do not run the stadium or hire the employees on premises; second, the guard was officially reprimanded, so the stadium agrees that the guard’s behavior was unacceptable.  Had this been his first 90 days, yeah, he probably would have been fired over the incident, but with 10 years of service, that counts for something.  We should be behind educating people to change their behaviors, not punishing people when they make mistakes.  The former creates allies; the latter creates enemies.

Well, for one… it’s the Minnesota Twins, not Minneapolis Twins. Second, Target paid millions of dollars to name the ballpark — nothing more. The owners of the baseball team are responsible for hiring field employees. So as easy as it was to spit bile at Target because of the conicidence at who named the ballpark, let’s get our facts straight first, okay? Oh wait… this is an internet blog. Nevermind….

Well, if I was kissing my (someday) husband, I’d
be honoring the sixth commandment “Honor thy father and thy mother” –
‘cuz he’s definitely MY daddy. Put THAT in your Deuteronomy and smoke
    it! 😉

  • You know, there are times when I’m happy to say I work for Target. This is not one of them…..

  • Im confused there is not a commandment states thou shall not swap spit with your lover  is there? cuse if there is then im dammed anyway

  • Kit Foxley

I’m not sure which of the 10 commandments they’d be violating?  She’s not coveting anyone else’s wife, not stealing, not bearing false witness nor committing adultery. Her mom and dad might be just fine with it.  Yet more christians who have no idea what they’re preaching, yet have no problem doing so anyway.

I’m pretty sure sexuality isn’t covered in the Ten Commandments…

All the more reason to not *sell* your name to organizations, buildings, and sports teams.  If you don’t own it and operate it, keep your name off of it, because the people who do own it and operate it may do things which come back to bite your ass.

*All truth passes through three stages.  First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.*  Arthur Schopenhauer,  a German philosopher, 1788-1860.

Looks like we are in the middle of stage two on the subject of homosexuality.

  • well, considering that TCP is ANOTHER thing target has paid to put their name all over, it seems that twin city lgbt’s are not overly concerned with how target treats them anyway.

  • Darek M

Twin Cities Pride is coming up here in Minnesota next weekend, and Target is normally there I wonder how they are going to be treated this year?

If Target is going to put their name on the stadium then they should know whats going on there.

Many people on hear see nothing wrong , because its not Targets stadium. Your right.

But if you put my name on a product , I’m gonna be right their watching what you do to make the product, insure its quality and make sure it reflects my values.

That security guard should know whats expectable and not especially after 10 years. He should have know better is the stadiums policy really is tolerance. He should be fired after 10 years if he still doesn’t know better.

If I pay someone to work on my yard I expect them to not tell my neighbor you can’t kiss in front of me, if they opened their mouth I would fire them instantly as they are acting on behalf of me hired by me. So in essence they are representing me, or rather failing to represent me!

Target needs to step their game up. This man was clearly an ass to have the gull to say anything when straight people practically hump each other. I have seen it first hand.

Another day, another sensationalist blog post by Unicorn Booty. You keep mentioning only the things you are sure will get your reader base riled up against whichever target you point them at, and disregarding additional facts that cast the stories in a different light. I see you failed to mention in this particular post that the guard was reprimanded and that Target only owns the naming rights to the stadium and has no say in the hiring of personnel. Instead of a direct violation, their only sin this time is bad PR. But hey, that doesn’t matter, right? It’s got Target in the name, and it’s discriminating against gays! Go get ’em, boys!

I am going to recommend you to Fox News for hiring.

The Hebrew scriptures as well as the Christian New Testament say nothing about lesbianism in the original languages.

  • Michael Taylor

Target just owns the naming rights to the field and has very little to do with its day to day operations and personnel.
