30 Men Pose Nude for Sensual New Photo Book ‘The Box’ (NSFW)

New York photographer Ron Amato‘s latest work proves that sometime thinking inside the box can be very sexy. The Box in this case is the title of Amato’s collection of gorgeous sensual male nudes that explore male beauty in a devastatingly personal way.

The press release reads: “Focused on themes of isolation, desire, conflict and empowerment, Ron Amato uses a series of boxes to create visual metaphors, echoing his development from adolescence to adulthood through over 100 color, and black and white photographs.”

Many of the photos are centered are around you guessed it – a box. On some pages the subjects seem to be trapped inside trying to break free of their confines. In others, the subjects have triumphed, conquering their demons and posing proud despite the vulnerability of being nude for all the world to see.

“Most of my artwork explores issues of sexuality. The enigma of attraction has been an ongoing question,” says Amato. “With The Box I was able to explore those themes more deeply, helping me develop a better understanding of myself as a gay man and the larger gay universe.”

Over thirty men, reflecting a diversity of ages, cultures, races and lifestyles–a thread that runs throughout Amato’s work–were photographed for The Box. As gay men, our desire to experience connections and the fear of being alone can be daunting and overwhelming in today’s society. Amato portrays these complex relationships of desire, lust and fear in an emotionally sensual way.

Amato is an full-time Associate Professor of Photography at New York City’s FIT (The Fashion Institute of Technology), where he has been for the last 12 years, six as the Chairperson of the Photography Department

He has exhibited extensively in the United States and internationally, been published in a number of anthologies and photographed for fitness and sports magazines, including Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness and Sports Illustrated.
