Tracy Morgan Threatens To Kill His Son If Gay During Homophobic Tirade Onstage

tracy morgan meltdown
id=”attachment_8164″ Tracy Morgan is reportedly a raging homophobe. Who knew?

30 Rock star and former SNL alum Tracy Morgan’s June 3rd stand-up routine drove offtrack, and eventually off a cliff when the comedian went on a homophobic tirade while onstage in Nashville, Tennessee. Morgan reportedly attacked President Obama for supporting the LGBT community, called homosexuality a choice, and even threatened to stab his own son to death if he ever came home from school and told his father he was gay.

When the audience began to turn on Morgan, he reportedly remarked that “if gays can take a dick up their ass, they can take a joke.”

Kevin Rogers, who was in the audience, shared his account of the hateful incident with Truth Wins Out.

-Mr. Morgan took it upon himself to mention about how he feels all this gay shit was crazy and that women are a gift from God and that “Born this Way” is bullshit, gay is a choice, and the reason he knows this is exactly because “God don’t make no mistakes” (referring to God not making someone gay cause that would be a mistake).

-He said that there is no way a woman could love and have sexual desire for another woman, that’s just a woman pretending because she hates a fucking man.  He took time to visit the bullshit of this bullying stuff and informed us that the gays needed to quit being pussies and not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying.

-He mentioned that gay was something kids learn from the media and programming, and that bullied kids should just bust some ass and beat those other little fuckers that bully them, not whine about it.  He said if his son that was gay he better come home and talk to him like a man and not [he mimicked a gay, high pitched voice] or he would pull out a knife and stab that little N (one word I refuse to use) to death.

-He mentioned that Barack Obama needed to man up and quit being all down with this just because he has a wife and two daughters.  All of this being followed by thunderous cheer and “You go Tracys”.  Tracy then said he didn’t fucking care if he pissed off some gays, because if they can take a fucking dick up their ass… they can take a fucking joke.

Oh HELL no. It’s worth noting that Morgan works under Tina Fey, an outspoken advocate for the LGBT community. She has been pressed for a comment on Morgan’s hateful meltdown, but has yet to respond.

Morgan’s publicist, Nicole Charbot, issued this statement to Instinct: “There is no comment. Thank you.”

Thank us? Try begging our forgiveness. We’re guessing this is just the beginning of this story.

It’s worth noting that Morgan’s homophobic meltdown just happened to be in Tennessee, the current Homophobic Cup holder of our glorious nation. In recent weeks, Tennessee has stripped LGBT employment discrimination protections from the law, and of course passed the Don’t Say Gay Bill through the senate. Not that they needed they help, but Morgan’s tirade puts them miles ahead in the race for America’s most anti-gay state.

Lovely.

***UPDATE***

Tracy Morgan’s publicist, Nicole Chabot sent us a chilly “There is no comment, thank you for your inquiry.” after we contacted her voicing our concern for the safety of Morgan’s child. Our letter, below:

Ms. Chabot,

I’m writing in regards to Mr. Morgan’s reported homophobic meltdown while on stage in Nashville. While Mr. Morgan reportedly said a vast number of hateful anti-gay things, I’m by far the most troubled about his threat to stab his own son to death.

I know you commented earlier that there would be no comment on this subject, but you must understand by now that this situation isn’t going to swept under the rug. I represent Unicorn Booty, the most-followed gay blog in the world, and would appreciate it greatly if you would elaborate further beyond your initial “no comment.”

Thank you for your time.

Co-Founder, Unicorn Booty

***Update 2***

Morgan’s publicist has responded to a second request for comment with an apology from the raging homophobe. Read it HERE.

  • Holy cow!

  • It’s a bit like wearing black-face, no?

  • Somebody give Tracy Morgan a hug because obviously his mommy and daddy didn’t show him enough love and teach him what equality is about while growing up. He can go f!ck himself! This type of ignorant crap is the reason he’ll never be top notch actor. Just fade away Morgan…you aren’t even funny anyway you dickhead!

  • What an ASS!! Can I get a Whoop his ASS!!! Ignorance like this should be met with flying fruit not cheers from an audience!!! The Peanut Gallery Deeply Dismayed

  • boo. do better.

  • Such a disappointment. I hope tina fey smacks some sense into him STAT

  • Paul Vee

What’s kind of disturbing to me – especially in this day and age of video proof – is that we’re all basing this on the word and memory, written in someone’s note on Facebook. I’m not saying I doubt its veracity, but — does ANY video or audio exist of this tirade? Or, can what he wrote be corroborated by others at this same show?

  • BOOOOOOO!!!! – WTF?!?

  • Whiksey. Tango. Foxtrot. I just lost all respect for him. I never knew Tina was an advocate, so she better lay the smack down on him, hard and fast, so to speak.

  • Anonymous

Do a google search on Tracy Morgan.  He did the exact same thing last year, I beleive at Carnegie Hall.  Same exact thing.

He gives breeders a bad name.

  • This is disgusting. The only thing he was right about is that God doesn’t make mistake…. He’s right; the gyas I know were made to brighten our days with beauty and love.

  • Homophobia has a direct correlation to acting ability?

  • Unicorn Booty…how dare you refer to tracy morgan as a star or as a comedian! Stars and Comedians have TALENT and that is a quality this thug does not have!

  • Dan

Mr. Morgan, you may want not to remain ignorant and read up on the latest study that came out May 31st of this year. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/226963.php Leading Neurologist have found that sexual orientation is NOT a choice as you so ignorantly claimed. It’s neurological from birth. You are right on the fact that God does NOT make mistakes – therefore we can conclude that God created those  who are straight just as he created those who are homosexual.
I Tweeted this story about Tracy to @AlecBaldwin & @NBC in hopes that word will get to Tina Fey about her employee!

  • Please people stop comparing the lbgt communities struggle for equality with the black community’s, they’re very different in terms of persecution. You can’t be a closeted black, and though it’s beyond fucked up to hide
It’s his 1st amendment right, whether or not I like it, and just because his colleagues are liberal, doesn’t mean he has to be.
The guy could apologize for the venue, I think that should be his
penance. Not for his views so much as just the random nature of what he
said. Nobody should have to sit through something like that when they’re just coming to see you be funny.

  • never liked him anyway… now i have a reason other than he has no talent…

  • The messages delivered by high profile people in the media has a direct correlation to the way societies’ views shift and shape, and it is our responsibility if someone is preaching a message of violence and intolerance to get them out of the limelight by not supporting that which they take part in. If Tina Fey showed us anything by her Sarah Palin impersonation, it’s that people who are widely respect and have great media attention can change people’s minds. This was not just a generic anti-gay rant by Morgan, this was one that encouraged violence and hatred.

  • Nope. THat’s it.Any respect I had for this man- and it was very little- is gone. See ya Trace

  • Kimberly Kohn

I think the fact that his publicist issued a “no comment” instead of a “it never happened” is pretty damning evidence. Not conclusive, but it makes me think that at least some of it is true.

  • Remember what happened when the actor who played Kramer on Seinfeld went on a tirade of his own? This is no different. I think Morgan’s career will soon be over, and I see no injustice in that.

  • Anonymous

first of all he’s a comedian so i’m taking this all as a joke, even if he believes what he says, it should still be taken as a joke.

second, you shouldn’t care about a comedian’s stance on gay rights. he’s not a politician or lawmaker, just a man paid to make you laugh

  • On Tracy’s tirade, he that protest the most, is the thing that he hates!!

  • Anonymous

first of all, he’s a comedian. this should be taken as a joke. i dont care if he even believes what he says, if it’s said on stage by a comedian, it’s a joke. so laugh if it’s funny or don’t if it’s not. just don’t be offended

second, it’s a comedian. not a politician or lawmaker. you shouldn’t care about his opinion on gay rights. he’s a man paid to make people laugh, that’s it.

And when you’re black, you never have to worry about being persecuted or rejected by your own family for being black.  But when you’re gay, you do.  They both have their unique struggles and they both have their benefits.  Is it harder to be a woman or to be an male of color?  Is harder to be a person of color or a gay person?  Is it harder to be a a gay, male of color or a white, gay woman?

They are not the same, but neither one is worse than the other (nor are they mutually exclusive at all to one another), anymore than it could be “worse” to be black or a woman.  Stop with the Oppression Olympics.  The only thing that IS the same is that we face oppression and that it’s wrong, no matter what different forms it takes for the different characteristics we have.

This isn’t new — Morgan called being gay a “choice” November 2009 as reported in The Advocate. Simply enter into a search engine the three words: Tracy Morgan homophobic and you will get hundreds of pertinent hits to news reports dating back more than four years about the homophobic material in his stand-up routines. Dozens of audience members walked out during his Carnegie Hall appearance over his homophobic material. I’d love to see to see a comprehensive history of the homophobic history of Morgan compiled by the talented Kevin Farrell. Perhaps an InfoGraphic Time Line?

Also, to Jonah: in reference to the Prop 8 vote, it’s been debunked that
“black people are the reason Prop 8 passed”.  The analysis of polling
data showed that factors that contributed the most to Prop 8’s passing
was due to voters over 65 years of age and voters who had voted
previously, NOT because of a surge in first-time black or Latino
voters.  In addition, the black and Latino community’s votes were far
less than that of white voters, who accounted for almost 80% of the entire vote, about 50% of whom voted for Prop 8.  And this doesn’t even factor in that the entire effort to support Prop 8 was due to a majority white, religious movement of Mormons.

So why is it that minorities are villainized as the bigots who promoted Prop 8 to passing when those pushing for it and doing out reach for it were white and when the majority of the votes for Prop 8 were from white voters?

I encourage you all to read the
analysis of the polling data from FiveThirtyEight:

    http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/11/prop-8-myths.html

As well as this pre-emptive analysis here from The Bilerco Project:

    http://www.bilerico.com/2008/09/black_voters_not_to_blame_if_proposition.php

And whether or not Africa has laws that are homophobic has little bearing or meaning for African Americans any more than Europe’s racist laws against Persians and Muslims have any bearing on any white person of European ancestry.

The struggle for gay rights is not “worse”, and neither is the struggle for racial equality “worse”.  They are unique and incomparable struggles against different manifestations of prejudice and oppression.  They don’t need to “compete” with each other to determine which form of prejudice is “more wrong”.  They’re both wrong and that’s all that matters.

Considering how liberal his co-stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin are, and especially considering that at least one of his other co-stars is openly gay, this is pretty shocking. Part of me wonders if something fueling this hateful rant wasn’t alcohol or drug abuse, a problem Morgan has been known to struggle with.

  • Has anybody ever been attacked by dogs and water hoses for being gay? Gay people aren’t lynched with near the frequency that black people were.
    Matthew Shephard? Meet Emmit Till.
Has a gay man’s church been bombed? No
Wanda Sykes and Whoopi Goldberg are neither experts on the subjects nor have they been appointed spokeswomen for blacks everywhere.
I’m not trying to draw on the oppression Olympic argument, this is like the Godwin’s Theory problem. It’s a huge misunderstanding of the type of horrors that happened to blacks to compare them to the horrors that befall gay people. They’re different, they’re both terrible things, but that doesn’t mean you get to call them the same.

  • Yeah because that’s totally what I was implicitly saying.
George had a routine where he advocated shooting people that disagreed with you, Bill Hicks regularly had elitist rants that ended in him wishing death on members of the audience and people that he thought were dumber than he.

The difference being that they were funny when they said it and had a tongue planted firmly in cheek.

  • I always thought he fell from the spotlight for not being funny, or having a spot on a critically acclaimed show anymore.
It sucks, but society at large is going to be more angry about racism than homophobia. As a a nation we’re still working toward getting past enough people’s homophobia so that it *is* held with the same contempt as racism. I don’t think that they are different, but the public’s perception of it will be. If you honestly think people will stop watching 30 Rock or thinking that Tracy Morgan is funny for that, that’s cool, but it’s not going to happen. At best, Fey may fire him from 30 Rock, the problem is that the show would tank afterward because of how funny he is.

Seinfeld would never have recovered if they’d lost Kramer.

What’s sad is that I have heard such comments first hand by members of my own family in the privacy of our own home. What’s worse is that so many people in the African American community think just like Morgan on this issue. My dad made such rants often… guess what, his son (me) turned out to be gay. I was never afraid that he would actually harm me, but the concensus of other family members when such remarks were made is one reason I stayed in the closet until I was 33. My dad professes to be a Christian, however on this subject, I have never felt the warmth and compassion of Christ. No matter what anyone believes on the issue (nature vs. nurture), let’s show some love for each other my brothas and sistas!

  • have*
    respected*
That wasn’t relevant to what I was talking about and it assumes that a comedian has the same type of power over people that a politician would. It assumes that people get swayed by every bit of celebrity opinion espoused in popular media, which has no actual scientific proof behind it. If that’s the case, Mel Gibson has increased Nazi membership ten fold.

  • The only thing i troubles me more than bigots are the ones who come from within oppressed communities.  As an African American woman, this sort of language and lack of understanding saddens me. Sigh. We ALL have a responsibility to be enlightened and respectful of others.

  • Anonymous

i don’t agree with what he said but comedians should be given a lot more leeway. they tend to speak from dark places people don’t like to look at. it’s when they can bring those to light and explore those thoughts or feelings are they most successful because they hit upon something a lot of people sometimes think about or have fears about but will never dare talk about.

  • Crappy. Does anyone know if Netflix pays a per-stream royalty on their TV shows? Either way, this has killed my 30 Rock marathon about 75% of the way through the first season. Oh well, there are about 70 thousand other things to watch on there, so I guess I’ll live.

  • LaconTom

This is just proof that ignorance and bigotry know no age or ethnic lines, and never rally goes away. Mr Morgan just proved that he is just as hateful and ignorant as a white supremacist hiding under a sheet in the 1940’s.

  • Jude GetEnda Stevens

I hope his career is over. How could anyone in this type of professional capacity feel this way or do this? I’m just speechless. I wonder how he feels about the way that blacks used to be treated?

  • “Has anybody ever been attacked by dogs and water hoses for being gay?” Yes and worse.  In fact, gay people (and Jews, and others) were attacked by dogs and water hoses just for being there supporting black people.  Not that they needed to be, but it happened to them nonetheless.

“Gay people aren’t lynched with near the frequency that black people
were.”  Tactics have changed; lynching has a bad rap these days, and has dropped off for all kinds of victims.

“Matthew Shephard? Meet Emmit Till.”  Do you seriously think that Matthew Shepard was the only gay person tortured and murdered in recent years just for being gay?

“Has a gay man’s church been bombed?”  Does burning count?  Then it’s “yes”.

Has it occurred to you that maybe you don’t know what’s going on in the world beyond what you’re paying attention to?

The “my oppression is worse than your oppression” game is one that the oppressors love to see people playing.  If you’re playing it, it means you don’t really care about oppression, you only only care about when it affects you and yours.  That’s the kind of self-centered bullshit that we need to get past.  I can’t claim to be equally informed and outraged about racism as I cam about homophobia, because the racism doesn’t happen to my face all that much.  But I don’t use that lack of first-hand experience as “proof” that it doesn’t exist, or that it isn’t as huge a problem as the one that does greet me at the front door every day.

They’re problems that affect different people in different ways.  But fundamentally they’re the same problem.  Which side of it are you on?

  • You just said they’re the same. Slavery’s irrelevant because no one has ever been enslaved for being gay, and at no point was there an entire half century dedicated to freeing the descendants of former slaves from discrimination other than that of black people. You can’t treat people as substandard for physically being gay because being gay isn’t a physical trait you idiot, it’s sexual identity.
I pointed out the difference in the persecution of the two minorities, you glossed over that and went on a rant because I don’t like comparing two incredibly different experiences?

Also a funny note, calling someone uneducated and then misspelling a name that you’re looking at makes you look stupid.

I think that what he said about his son has clearly been misconstrued. From the account coming directly from the show, he basically said he would kill his son if he came home from being bullied and complained about it instead of doing something. I’m not saying that joking about killing your child is humor (it’s especially hard to see it that way when laid out in black and white like this) or that kids being bullied should retaliate, but it deserves mentioning that he was not saying he would kill his son for being gay, but for not standing up for himself as he was most likely taught. And I think that you’re severely hurting your credibility by writing his publicist with concern for his child’s safety.

  • Lia Nelson

Well, here’s to not enjoying his sense of humor anymore! Doesn’t he play a lot of ‘gay’ parts in skits??? That’s mighty hypocritical. It might be in jest, and even sometimes could be taken wrong, but one way or the other, you can’t PLAY a queer, if you aren’t one dear 🙂 Homophobes in the closet *UNITE*! Yep… another jerk hiding behind his comedy. So when his child comes home gay, I hope he gets put in jail before he puts his child under the ground. Jackass.

  • Wow, he turned out to be a pile of shit, didn’t he? Guess his career stall must be the fault of an LGBTQ member.

  • Anonymous

I really don’t see the appeal of Tracy Morgan and never have,He talks like he has a mouthful of marbles, relys on juvenile acting, poor taste jokes and the thug persona,It has worked for some others but that is because they have talent, and timing and taste.  He is a waste of good air.

  • I never even made an implication that being black is harder than being gay, I said the persecution is very different.
I even agreed that the argument about which is harder was lame and went back to my original point about the experiences being too different for comparison.
As just a point to make, they were attacked for supporting black people, not for being gay. That was what I meant to drive at, but clearly I failed.

Did I ever imply that I thought that Matthew was the only one? No, and in fact I was responding to his charge that no black man got lynched like that. I was pointing out a specific case of lynching, that was it.

Did you automatically assume that I was an know nothing know it all idiot, without me actually making that assertion? Yes, I get that there’s always some idiot that does that, but I’m not that guy.

“I can’t claim to be equally informed and outraged about racism as I cam
about homophobia, because the racism doesn’t happen to my face all that
much.” I love that you said that, it doesn’t vindicate anything for me, but it’s a beautiful point to make.

My thing is that I have a personal distaste for homophobia, but that doesn’t mean that a guy’s career should tank because of his personal views. If it falters by boycott I’m happy as hell with that outcome, but if it’s a result of casting directors not wanting to work with him, it better be because of their personal views on LBGT rights. Not because of negative press.

  • Anonymous

They should come down on him just as fast and hard as they did the Kramer guy off of Seinfeld.

  • I don’t like Tracy. I truly think he is insane.

  • the Media really need to get a life, he a comedian, a COMEDIAN, man i swear this world is crazy, you cant say nothing without it being blown out of proportion

  • Please stop saying you can’t be a closeted black person.  It depends on your skin tone and how badly you want to hide it.  I happen to be light skinned enough that if I wanted to, I could easily pass for something else, even white (in fact, without being told otherwise, most people assume that I am).  Doesn’t change the fact that I’m not, though.

  • LaconTom

This just shows that hate and ignorance knows no limits in time, age, and race. Mr Morgan just showed that he is as ignorant and prejudiced as a white supremacist  hiding under a sheet in the 1940’s.

  • This sounds a lot like Michael Richards’ racist meltdown from a few years ago, to be honest. Ugh… No more 30 Rock for me.

  • I would know Jasmine, I look pretty damned white myself.
I’m sure it’s not really something that could work if I wanted to “pass” for being black because people got caught for that a lot in the south. Did not go well, but please do not assume this is my advocating “the closet”. I hate the closet with a fanatical passion, I’m only saying that the object of discrimination is innate physical trait instead of an innate sexual identity.

  • He should know better! The black community was OUTRAGED when Kramer (what’s his real name anyway) had an anti-black tirade and this idiot (real name Tracy Morgan) goes and adds to the hate. Lord have mercy on the real “haters.”

  • damn… I dont know what he means by “taking a joke”  wasnt none of that even a joke… smh. #epicfail

  • I wasn’t trying to argue which is worse, I agree with your point, but I apologize for side-tracking the argument.

  • No, you’re right. These days they absolutely do, I was talking about the discrimination of blacks during their struggle with equality.
As for the hose part, I’d love to see some proof. That doesn’t sound ridiculous, I’m not patronizing you,  I’m just skeptical about things my gut wants to believe.

  • No, you’re right. These days they absolutely do, I was talking about the discrimination of blacks during their struggle with equality.

  • I’m assuming Mr. Morgan lives in Hollywood? If so, concerns for his son’s welfare should be directed to California Social Services (or if he’s in another state, then whatever child-services agency is in that state). Link this story for proof.

All the backlash isn’t going to wake him up to the consequences of his words and actions. But maybe a visit from DSS will. 🙂

  • That’s psychologically painful, but that’s really just underlining my point that the two experiences are very different because of the types of persecution.

  • Um… beg to differ. During WWII, GLBTQ men and women were imprisoned and enslaved in concentration, work and death camps along with Jews, Gypsies, criminals, and political prisoners. So, yes – gays HAVE been enslaved for being gay. And this is just ONE point in history, there have been others. They have also been hosed down, had their churches and other public places blown up, been lynched, been beaten to death – shall I go on? When you’re making these statements above, are you actually looking to see if these things have happened, or are you just assuming that because you’ve never heard about it, that it’s never happened?

Again, the points isn’t that one is worse than the other, the point is that discrimination sucks and that it needs to stop. Yes, blacks and the homosexual community have different experiences with discrimination, but they’ve both experienced discrimination, and in that, they are the same. You can’t hide being black, but some people can’t hide that they’re gay, either. Those that can live with the torment of denying themselves, and frankly, shouldn’t have to hide who they are out of fear. If a black child today asked their grandparent, would they have hidden the fact that they were black when they were younger, if they could have, what would they have said? I think it’s insulting to offer that as an option to gay people, even if it is one, because it shouldn’t have to be.

The enslavement of GLBTQ people may not be anywhere near the scale as that of the black community, but that in no way implies that they’re free. They don’t have the same rights, and even the rights they do have are infringed upon by other peoples’ fear. Sure, they don’t have to use separate bathrooms, or restaurants, but I’ve been places with my best friend, who’s gay, where we’ve been denied service without explanation, even after we’ve been seated. He was nearly beaten up in a public bathroom once, just for going into the mens room to use it. That’s only a small sample, too.

It’s stupid a thing to argue over, because the result is the same – people end up either hurt or dead, and neither is right.

  • I don’t like getting in the business of what words “should not” be coming out of anyone’s mouth. You have every right to be upset and voice your outrage toward Morgan, but let’s not veer off into language police territory.

  • If homophobia can get you fired from a TV show, then it should get your fired from congress. Why can we mobilize outrage against people who are completely irrelevant like Tracy Morgan, but not against people who actually have the power and use it to legislate against homosexuals, minorities, women, etc.?

  • Thomas Baggett

I’m actually wondering the same thing.  Surely there’s footage or another witness.  Corroboration matters.

  • ARE YOU KIDDING!? He is NOT funny, he has NEVER been funny. The show is a snoozefest but he brings it down even lower. He was good in Rio and that’s it.

And I do agree with you. Its wrong to say racism=homophobia and or sexism or opressed minority or majority or your choice.

  • Jane Doe

Idiots like this tool suck the oxygen out of their brains when they run their mouths spewing toxic crap non stop.  People like this serve no real purpose in life other than to make a buck off hate and more importantly IGNORANCE.  Tracy is  nothing more than talentless trash.  Of course he has to pull a stunt like this because he is pathetic and insecure.  He will never be half the man, woman, tranny, boi, dyke, or twink anyone else already are and is.  Tracy, the world has enough evil in it right now with plenty of people struggling.  Stop being a tool and a dbag and be part of the solution, not the take down nor the problem.  You are without a doubt one of the ugliest humans I have seen in some time.  GET HELP.

  • Me and you brother. I hated his Tracy Jordan character from the very beginning.

  • Paqui Persea

Tracy Morgan sure does think he’s tough. Now all I’m going to be thinking about when I see him is “man, I’d sure like to stab that piece of garbage”

  • Yeah brother Spread the word!

  • Jane Doe

Wow, you still have tons of spiritual work to do clearly……  stop with the pissing match.  IT really makes you look like you can’t form a decent point in which to prove your point.  Enough already.

  • Jane Doe

OMG you don’t have to be right…..  it really is okay to sit…. and HUMBLE yourself and read what others are saying.  There are other extremely valid views out that.  IT is ugly when someone like yourself has this smug superior than thou attitude in which you feel the need to carry on and simple just not LISTEN.  Trust me when I tell you that you don’t know if all….  get over yourself and educate yourself more….  it may help that pesky narrow minded point of view you seem to be suffering from.

  • Dont worry Travis. Tina Fey will fire his ass if she knows whats best for the show and as much as I find her work boring I think she does.

  • So being bullied and being sad about it is knife stab worthy?

Ok Ill give you the benifit of doubt and just say I misunderstood. Could you elaborate in clearer words?

  • Riff Raff

Is it wrong that I wish his kidney he had transplanted in him, came from a gay man or a lesbian woman?

  • Riff Raff

Is it wrong that I wish his kidney he had transplanted in him, came from a gay man or a lesbian woman?

  • Poor guy. Hopefully he will get help. This kind of tirade is classic hate addiction.

  • Jonah Falcon

Whoopi Goldberg disagrees with you. “Gay people are the new black people.”

Let me know when an openly gay president is elected. Or when the last time a black man was lynched like Matthew Shepard.

Did you know African countries have it legal to put an openly gay man to death?

PLEASE don’t tell me “the struggles for equality” ain’t the same. It’s worse. Much worse, because there are gay blacks who have to go on the “down low” just to be happy.

Proposition 8? 60% whites voted no. 50% latinos voted no. 83% blacks voted yes. Think about it.

Actually, there are many blacks still being lynched to this day….

Also, I had to add this to your post: Wanda Sykes also agrees with Whoopi on this one, and said it’s a lot harder being gay than it is being black.

  • The 1st amendment applies to citizens actually.
It’s purpose is to protect the people from the Federal or local government.

  • Interesting. Well I rescind the hose comment.

  • Free speech – Love it or leave it.

  • …I was saying that experiences were too different to compare. That was my entire point.
And no it’s not a physical trait, that’s just ignoring the entire definition of physical trait.

  • TERRY GRIFFIN

I know you guys are still on the difference between the two rant, but I just wanted to throw this in….the fact that anyone says it is a choice is what galls me.  My sister knew at age 11.  How can an eleven year old make a decision to be gay?  Especially since she knew her peers were against it, her religion was against it.  It took until she was in her early 30’s (and after a failed marriage and having three kids) for her to come out… But by then the hatred, the hiding, the pain was too much.  My sister committed suicide.  I blame the homophobes that make our kids still feel that there is something “wrong” with them.  God does not make mistakes and makes us….

Remember that he is just one guy. The overwhelming majority of heterosexual people I know are far far far far faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more tolerant if not amazingly supportive of everyone in the gay community.

  • i’m confused as to why people are turning this into a gay vs. black issue.  i’m gay, i’m black, i’m PISSED.  tracy morgan should be ashamed and he should immediately issue an apology.  this type of “humor” perpetuates the gross notion that violence toward the LGBTQIA community is funny and acceptable.  it is especially disheartening that, as a person of color, he would bash a minority group in such a foul and offensive way.  discrimination for the sake of humor is completely unacceptable.  minorities (sexual, racial or otherwise) in our world today have enough to deal with from the often oppressive majority.  we should band together and lift one another up, not tear each other down (as i fear is happening on this message board from the gay vs. black camps).  shame on you trace morgan.  your words are hateful and disgusting

I know what you mean when you feel ashamed of your state. I was heartbroken when Prop H8 passed here in CA. Frankly, I didn’t feel at home anymore. Because who were all these people who… oh yeah– the millions of dollars from Utah poured into our state’s ballot proposition. Yet another example of the need for election reform.

I recently saw Tim Wise (anti-racist educator) and Angela Davis (LGBTQ advocate, anti-racist educator, longtime rockstar for equality) in conversation. They were brilliant together, weaving an intricate, deeply-rooted history of oppression. I’d bet they’d have some terrific analysis and words of comfort to share now.

And I have to say that like others, I’m deeply disappointed in Tracy Morgan. I liked 30 Rock (Alec Baldwin’s character the most) and I actually did find him funny as Tracy Jordan in sort of a screwball way (though maybe I liked DotCom, Grizz, and his wife’s character even better). Which makes this even more revolting.

  • Anonymous

Standing Ovation!!! *yes.* There’s nothing better for the oppressors than divide and conquer…

  • Yeah, because I’m completely incapable of understanding the concept that I’m not omniscient and have spent so much time with self aggrandizing in this thread.
🙂 I probably seemed like a self-righteous dick, and could’ve easily given off that vibe. For that I’m very sorry, but I think a lot of posts are under the assumption that I have some ludicrous idea that is comparatively easy to be gay.
The only reason I believe I don’t have a narrow perspective because I only disagree with the comparison of being black and gay.
It’s like the argument of whether it’s harder to be a woman or black. Worse yet, it’s like comparing those two experiences. The two experiences shouldn’t be compared, because somebody could end up either trivializing one of them, or completely missing the point of the minority’s struggle to overcome the oppression.

  • Tara M Chambers

Please don’t assume that all Tennesseans are anti-gay. I am so ashamed of my state right now. I am so disgusted with Tracy Morgan and I hope his career suffers for this.

  • Ian Galope

He wasn’t joking about this shit though. He used his stage time as a comedian to rant about homosexuals. That’s not just unprofessional, but it robs the audience of their time.

  • You know who else was in concentration camps? Black people. Any minority was on the Nazi shit list, and yes for about 12 years people were imprisoned and enslaved. I was wrong, and I apologize.
I wasn’t arguing it was worse to be black, gay etc. , and it’s a little weird I keep having to say this but no one notices when I do: the persecutions they face are different experiences. That’s what I was saying. Being oppressed doesn’t mean the mean that the trials and tribulations are the same, they’re very different.  Saying they are isn’t going to bring the black community and the gay community together, sad as it is. A lot of people find the black community’s homophobia hypocritical because of that, it’s a veritable tragedy, but I don’t find the experiences close enough to one another to call it hypocrisy.

  • Ian Galope

Breeders? Really? Also Chelsea , you don’t need to prove anyone anything. If you aren’t homophobic then you aren’t homophobic. Period.

  • were you born straight?

  • Anonymous

Nobody is born straight or gay ..We’re born INTO something due to our
environment and they way we are raised.  Just like we’re born into our
religion …but its OUR FREE WILL to keep that religion or sexual
preference. Me being Christian. The bible tells us that we are ALL born
    in into sin and

Genesis Chapter 3:16 says Unto the woman He said, I will greatly multiply
your sorrow and your conception (the original Plan of God was that
    husband and wife would bring sons and daughters of God into the world;
due to the Fall, they can only bring sons and daughters into the world
in the “likeness of Adam” [Gen. 5:3])

Romans chapter 3:23 For all have sinned (presents all men placed in the same category), and come short of the Glory of God

The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27
teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and
disobeying God. When people continue in sin and unbelief, God “gives
them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them
the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.

God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that people become homosexuals because of sin (Romans 1:24-27)
and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a
greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as some people are born
with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the
person’s choosing to sin by giving in to sinful desires. If a person is
born with a greater susceptibility to anger/rage, does that make it
right for him to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is
    true with homosexuality.

However, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin
than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one
of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the
Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is
to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also
promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to
all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Philippians 4:13).

NOOOOW to Tracy Morgans comment it DO NOT agree with how he went about
venting his views. In the bible it tells us NOT TO JUDGE OTHERS ..(self
righteously) …with the intent to put people down …..instead of
righteously judging with the intent to enlighten them with the will  of
God. NOBODY IS PERFECT … so noone has the right to put others down for
    the ways of life

  • He has freedom of speech. We have that freedom, too, which means we have the right to speak up against him and express our disgust. We also have the freedom to not spend our money supporting him. Freedom of speech DOES NOT mean “I can say whatever the hell I want, no matter how harmful, and face no consequences whatsoever”

  • I’m still going to watch it, but not in a way that supports it…. LOL

  • Just because you add a “LOL” to a horrible statement doesn’t make it funny or excusable.

  • Corey Leamon

Why are ANY of you trying to argue over which is worse?? It doesn’t do any good. All it does is make the conversation travel backwards. Discrimination of any nature is WRONG. Instead of trying to win the battle over who had it worse, learn to support each other and understand what each much uniquely face. It’s particularly useless to bring up discrimination that’s decades old. If you wanted to play that fight, we could bring up thousands of years worth of slavery, lynching, mobbing, torture, etc etc faced by Jews/gypsies/Muslims/etc/etc. Nearly every “group” has had their time of discrimination. Dwelling on that is worthless. Acknowledge their immorality and use that lesson to encourage those who face discrimination now.

Grow up and work TOGETHER to eradicate it.

I love 30 Rock but I won’t watch this show anymore if he stays on it! As a comedian myself, I think this is disgusting and not a joke, I think the child protective services should be taking his son away.

  • Michael Keren

You’re right, Although I don’t like to play who’s oppression is worse, the struggle of gays and lesbians is far worse than that of the black community. When you’re black you don’t have to worry about being thrown out because of your family because of being black, you don’t have to worry that your father will kill you because you are black. In fact, your parents can help you to deal with the racism you face every day. When you’re gay, you live in fear of telling your parents cause they may be like Tracy Morgan. Plus, blacks can’t lose their jobs because they are black, they can marry who they want, they don’t have their life-long churches turn their backs on you because you are black.

  • Michael Keren

In fact hate crimes against gays far outnumber those against blacks these days, and many states don’t even recognize them as hate crimes. And yes there are places where water hoses and other devices of torture are used on gays and lesbians.

  • There’s nothing really to go on a tirade about except for the fact that your post is about as wishy-washy and incoherent as they come. You don’t have much of a position at all.

  • Actually, 1 Corinthians says that “malakoi” and “arsenokoitai’ will not enter the kingdom of heaven. These Koine Greek words were not translated as “homosexuals” until much later. The concept of homosexuality as we know it today was unknown at the time the Bible was written. And the lines in Leviticus are juxtaposed to lines that forbid the wearing of mixed fibers and the eating shellfish, yet you don’t see many people following those rules now, do you?

  • Travis Wade

Guess I’m done with 30 Rock.  It is unfortunate as I did enjoy the show.

  • Really? Tell us more about life professor. Do you really think animals care about procreation or sustaining their species? They care about self preservation. Why why any animal want the detriment of having to care for something helpless, having to risk their own life for this thing. I’ll tell you why – hormones. Natures way of conning you into procreation. As for not saying he is wrong – opinions can be wrong – or did you not learn that in grade 1. The earth is flat, only 6000 years old, man walked with dinosaur – all opinions, all wrong. The only evolutionary suicide we have to fix is finding out to breed out the stupidity on display in your comment. Maybe you should – I don’t know,, read a book before you make such stupid assertations about biology. BTW, what do you do for the survival of the human race. I hope you’re not gonna answer that by passing on your junk DNA that that will help humans.

  • Janet Vandenabeele

I don’t think the First Amendment ever mentioned stabbing your child. He may think it’s a joke but that’s a lot of anger. What he calls a joke is serious when it’s your child who’s bullied to death. And if this is covered by our belief in freedom of speech (the First Amendment technically only applies to the federal government, but who really reads that stuff anyway?), then criticism of his tirade is covered, too. Free exchange of ideas. And his ideas suck.

  • Lori Colucci

you stated what he says on stage is a “joke”. So saying that he would stab his own son if he were gay was a “joke”? hummm I wonder how many people agreed with that “joke”. And yes most comedians speak from a dark place, but not a place of ignorance and hate. As far as Tracy Moron being successful because he hit upon something a lot of people have fears about…..ya maybe in 1989, but do you own a T.V? People are loving and imbracing a persons choice wether hedrosexual or homosexual…….sorry but in 2011 we are dareing to talk about it.

No black white or red person is shuned by his family or friends because of his color.  Gay kids grow up being terrified of people finding out they are gay.  They are forced to live a lie. When they do come out, it can lead to them being kicked out of there homes,  losing there family,  friends etc.  racists may look at you funny or say something hurtfull becuase of the color of your skin.  To have your dad ,  mom,  or best friend look down upon you for being born gay is a whole new ballgame.

  • jadziadragonrider

Although there is truth to what you are saying, there is a big giant flaw in this logic: Blacks are still oppressed today institutionally and almost across the board. To pretend that “Whew! at least there is no more oppression of Blacks let’s work on gays now!” is a fallacy.

What you say might* be true……even though u didnt have a understandable explanation for the Leviticus CLEARLY saying ” You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.  ” BUTTTTTTTTTTT do  you honestly think its God’s will to accept Gay sexual acts with one another.  The bio science of  a penis going into a mans anus makes no sense to me other then a lustful pleasure.  Everything about man on woman sex makes perfect sense. God made sex for Procreation and pleasure …MOST importantly procreation.  And we both know you can’t make babies having homosexual sex.

  • I am white.  I iam a heterosexual female.  I grew up in a middle class neighborhood in Wichita, Kansas.  My experiences with discrimination come nowhere near those of either the LGBTQ community or those of the Black community.  I am however the product of a half Jewish father and a mother whose father was a grand dragon of the KKK.  I know what discrimination can do to a family.  I now live in Germany and still feel slightly uncomfortable with my 1/4 Jew heritage when hearing about neo nazis in East Germany or when visiting Sweden recently and being face to face with Finnish facists.  My step sister is bi sexual, my niece lesbian.  I have had lovers from nearly every socioeconomic class and color of the rainbow, a few women for good measure.
With all that said as a casual reader of all of these posts I want to say that I also agree that each and every persons struggle while EQUALLY shitty is UNIQUELY differant.  So I on that point agree with Rickey.  He seems to have been mis informed, but also it seems tried to acknowledge when he had his facts wrong.  I have no idea if this jerk was talented or not, because living in Germany I do not watch much American television, but as far as celebs influencing the public?  Arnold the Terminator did not win the race in California due to his extensive political experience.
Oh, as far as black people not having to worry about family acceptance…I have friends whose families threatened them if they dated someone who was not of their race white or black.

(Before anyone goes on a tirade, read the WHOLE thing…)

If people were indeed born gay then something is wrong with them biologically. All living things should have the instinctual desire to recreate and sustain their species. Two guys or two girls can not make a baby, ever, no matter what. So they do nothing for the survival of the human species. There is no natural reason why anyone would be born gay, but our world is no longer natural, we need to start focusing on what would cause such an evolutionary suicide and fix that problem and not gay rights or straight rights or who’s right. Until then I’m all for Pro-Freedom. No one has the right to say what anyone else can do, so long as others rights are not infringed.

Oh, and it’s his 1st Amendment Right to say what he did, you don’t like it, tough. Don’t listen, boycott his shows, write letters to his agent and NBC, those are your rights. But don’t say he is wrong, that’s your opinion, there is no wrong or right.

    Just my opinion.

  • Stephen Brown

MLK has said that without LGBT PEOPLE THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT would not have succeeded it was they whp put thir live on the line unselfishlly so that otheres may benefit

  • Being born gay does not imply biological error. Polymorphisms are genetic differences amongst individuals in a population that may or may not confer a selective advantage (i.e., make one individual more fit for survival than another) or disadvantage.

If a fruitfly’s genetic makeup causes its body to produce wings that are useless for flight, then it will be unable to seek out food sources in its adult form. I would maintain that this is “something wrong” biologically speaking.

Saying that because an individual’s behavior prevents her/him from reproducing is “wrong . . . biologically” is not reflective of our current understanding of popluation, ecological or evolutionary biology. There are many examples in nature where individuals choose not to reproduce so that their family unit can benefit. Wolves are an excellent example, where only one female reproduces within a family unit. The other females can then help to protect, nurture and teach the pups born to the pack, and don’t have to expend their energy for gestation and nursing. This helps shepherd limited resources for the good of the survival of the family unit. Are the wolves that do not reproduce in the family unit “wrong . . . biologically”?

There are theories that homosexuality in human and non-human populations (and there are multiple observations of homosexuality in non-human animals in, I believe, both captive and wild situations) may confer selective advantage to a family group. Much like the non-reproductive females in a wolf pack, homosexual members of a family group can provide added protection and nurturing and training to their nieces, nephews and cousins that they would be unable to provide had they pursued having their own offspring.

The first amendment – which, btw, does limit the rights of state and local governments thanks to the fourteenth amendment – protects your right to make the statements you have made equating homosexuality to “evolutionary suicide.” It also protects Tracy Morgan. All I can do as a citizen and biologist is disseminate information such that individuals can decide what they believe to be most correct on this topic. And I can choose not to support artists whose views are so vitriolic and antithetical to my own that they make my skin crawl and my blood boil with rage. It’s every bit Tracy Morgan’s right to state that he would kill his own son if he came home gay. It’s every bit my right to make sure that such an idiot never receives another iota of my support.

  • His character is a dumbass on the show. It’s a character who makes too much money and wastes it in strip clubs, whines when he doesn’t get his way, and plays dumb all the time. It angers me that people are saying ” Well it’s just a routine….” No. It’s not. Since he has apparently been doing this for a number of years now, and didn’t care when audience members left and walked out in the middle, goes to show he doesn’t CARE about what his fans think of him. Had he actually stopped to think “wow, this could ruin my career” I am pretty sure like any comedian who truly wants to have a stable career and a strong fan base, would have stopped the routine.
Saying you would harm your own child because they were gay….disgusting. The fact that he has made numerous kid movies disturbs me even more.

  • This really disappoints me because I love 30 Rock and think Tracy is hilarious on the show. But now knowing how he feels about people like me, I don’t think I could really look at him the same ever again.

  • michaelandfred

How many blacks do you know that spent years undergoing electric shock treatment to rid them of their color or were imprisoned for having sex with a willing partner? Remember the holocaust? Hundreds of thousands of homosexuals killed and used as SLAVE labor simply for being gay. Someone has already mentioned rejection by family, I’m pretty sure no blacks get kicked out of the house to live on the street when their parents discover their color. Quite frankly, historically, the two can definitely be equated. A tit for tat of abuse is like discussing which was worse, the genocide in Rwanda, Germany or Cambodia….

  • Anonymous

Your understanding of the First Amendment is flawed. It only applies to GOVERNMENT censorship. Either way, yes, Tracy is free to say most anything he wants. As are people to no longer respect him.

Also, if you can’t see the serious problems in treating homosexuality like a biological flaw as if it was leukemia or cancer, I don’t know what to tell you.

  • Anonymous

Yup. It’s just sad. He’s pathetic.

  • Michael Buchanan

I can’t be the only one whose gaydar goes off every time Morgan opens his mouth. These comments just reinforce my opinion that Tracy is so far in the closet, he’s willing to kill the thing about himself that he hates the most – his homosexual tendencies.

  • Anonymous

Anyone know where to send an email to Morgan’s agent or rep?

    Ditto Tina Fey and/or 30Rock?

  • Anonymous

Unless there is a movement of Black gay people that come out against Morgan nothing will happen because Tina Fey et al understand that white gay folks are usually racist as all get out alongside their white straight counterparts. And Fey doesn’t wanna get herself in the middle of that fight and seem to be on the side of white racists.

It doesn’t make someone racist to dislike what Morgan does. I dislike it. But a lot of people, probably most white people who dislike him, simply are racist. And that reality complicates things for people like Fey.

Just some real talk here (not that white folks in this thread or anywhere would ever cop to being racist).

  • Brian

I have always thought that Tracey Morgan was a closeted person anyway…always.  So these kind of comments are common from people in the closet.  It is not as accepted to hate gays in the US as much as it was 20 years ago.  He should have used better judgement to keep his ideas to himself at this point.

  • It is not surprising to see what people do for a bit of attention, he needs to look in the mirror and really take a look at himself!!! Sad!!! I hope he will be eliminated from SNL

this is about equality and predjudice and being ashamed of what you are.blacks and gays alike have been hung in trees and shot and killed for being what they are.tracy needs to realize that he is onstage today because of the struggles of his own race to be accepted and loved for who they were.i believe that a person has a choice to be happy or to be sad and alone.tracy chose to be hateful and to ignore that by the grace of a higher power he is a celebrity.he uses this gift to spread a message of hate.

uh…i am a hetro woman & have kids/hubby.  this is disgusting coming from Tracy Morgan!! How dare he!? I am also a marriage & family therapist who has no problem with LGBT clients.  I do not believe it is a CHOICE because no one would choose to be ridiculed!! I am so sorry and shame on those who judge!

:::sigh::: is this a pissing contest to see who is more persecuted?? Let’s be real….African-Americans, LGBT, and anyone “different” gets persecuted by some people who are ignorant and not appreciative of our differences.  Diversity is the best thing on this planet and we should embrace all…..not one is better than the other

In the 90’s, I was at university and saw all these courses promoting the gay life style. I found it absurd, but now I find the media, pop culture, and every source imaginable are promoting it. It is brainwashing. I was told 80% of actors in Hollywood are gay. Tracy Morgan maybe reacting to the other actors who go both ways to make it into film.  We are going to have a lost generation of young men.  This life style should not be promoted in the schools at all. What you do behind closed doors is your own business. I find it absurd that rabid gays get heard in the political arena.  We are not born this way, we do have free will.

  • Anonymous

    The comments here are ridiculous.

This shouldn’t become a pissing match about what group is more persecuted and discriminated against.  Discrimination is wrong.  Period.

Tracy Morgan is a bigot.  Period.

So you could choose to be gay if you wanted?  Is that what you’re saying?

    You’re ridiculous.

Homophobia is just another version of misogyny.

  • Caelin Crosby

I’m very tempted to tear your argument to tiny pieces, but you’re just not worth my time. Biologically, a child can be born gay. There have been many studies to that effect. Homosexual children are born into homophobic families & homophobic societies all the time. That’s why they’re bullied, kicked out of the house, or murdered. No one born into that kind of family, society, or situation would choose to be homosexual.

  • K. G

Ok, has anyone ever been DRAGGED OUT OF THEIR HOME CONTINENT AND BEEN ENSLAVED for being gay? look that up and get back to us..

  • I am disgusted by this. As a huge fan of 30 Rock and Tina Fey, it will be hard to continue watching Tracy after this incident…

  • what I really appreciate about this comment (and others you’ve made) is that you’ve actually listened and HEARD what some of the more well spoken people have said on this board.  That shows that you’re educated and not just talking out of your ass.  While I disagree with much of what you’ve said before (because early on it did come off as “black oppression is worse than gay oppression” argument), I’m glad to see that you are a big enough person to listen to what others have to say.  It gives me hope for the world.

Despite what Tracy Morgan said, he has the right to say it – but it is our right as a public not to listen to him anymore if we don’t like what he chooses to say in public.  I can tell you that it has changed my entire opinion of him as an artist.

  • K. G

I’m pissed at Tracy Morgan because I don’t find him funny. At least if these were real jokes I could give him a pass. Homophobic?, possibly but he is a comedian so it’s impossible to tell. I don’t hear this huge outcry about LISA LAMPANELLI when she goes on her racist and homophobic tirades. I’ve seen her LIVE, not cleaned up for HBO, and she does EXACTLY THE SAME THING.

  • Anonymous

To Rickey Alexander Julian Frazie … your 8 PM post from yesterday (Thursday) was spot on.  Godwin’s Theory is a perfect analogy.  Your logical analysis trumps the emotional, usually bogus BS that others here rely on to make their points.

  • It can get you fired from congress – that is why we the people vote.  One thing I do agree with Ricky on is that gay oppression still does not get as much outrage as a whole from society as racism does.  Too many of us (gays and lesbians) just sit back and let the outspoken ones do all the hard work.  It’s not enough.  If more of us would (could) come out of the shadows and speak up and do something about it, we WOULD have the power to “fire” homophobic politicians.  Never underestimate the power of one person – each “one person” adds up to a LOT of people.  We can make a difference.

  • Jennifer Orthwein

First, I would like to clarify the 1st Amendment for you and others who may agree with your misleading perspective.  The 1st Amendment protects individuals from “State action” which censures, fines or takes away a person’s liberty for their speech or expression.  A “State action” is an act by the government or a publicly entity.  It does not provide people protections from other people’s opinions related to that speaker’s speech or expression.  I do not see anyone trying to censure, fine or confine Tracy Morgan.  I only see people disagreeing with his speech, something the 1st amendment clearly protects as well.  The fact that Tracy Morgan has a 1st amendment right to say what he thinks does not mean what he says or thinks is not hurtful and hateful toward others and that other’s do not have aright to express that hurt and illuminate the hate.

Second, if you could hide that you are black, would you?  I am a gay woman and it is visible to most, if not all, that I am gay.  I wear my hair very short and am often mistaken for a man. I lived a good portion of my life trying to conform to other’s ideas of what a female, straight person should look like. I hid my sexual orientation and lived each and every day as others believed I should, not how I wanted to live and express myself (which the 1st amendment also protects). I was prohibited from that liberty for fear of persecution.  And even though I tried really hard to pull it off, I was still identified by many as gay because of my mannerisms and those with whom I associated. While conforming I was subjected to both physical and verbal abuse.  I was fired from my job solely based on my sexual orientation.  I was outed by other people, something even all my “closeted behavior” did not prevent.  I am proud I am gay and old enough not to care what others think anymore, so I am finally able to be who I am on the inside and out. That said, I can not go to a public bathroom without the fear that I may be verbally or physically assaulted because of my gender expression, which is an experience I have to endure because I can not live my life pretending to be someone I am not.
The persecution I experience may not rise to the level black people have experienced and continue to experience. However, until I found others LGBT people, I lived my life experiencing persecution completely alone. My family and friends were all bigoted toward me and they didn’t  realize it because I was too afraid to tell them.  A choice it sounds like you feel is an acceptable option. I disagree.

No group or individual deserves to be treated as “less than” any other group or individual.  We are different. There are similarities and differences in every civil rights movement. The fact that they are civil rights movements alone makes them comparable. The types of persecution I have experienced in my life, both closeted and out for all to see have had a profound impact on my physical and mental health.  I will never be black, and will never pretend to completely understand what it is like to experience life as a black man or woman.  I am confident a person who is not LGBT is capable of completely understanding my experience either. But, perhaps it is time to look at each other’s experiences through a lens of empathy and compassion, rather than continue to ignore the similarities of our experiences by pointing out the perceived differences, thereby minimizing them.

  • Boy ain’t too bright. You got some comedians can make that work, but looks like he can’t pull it off.

  • Jeffrey

Well what do you expect from a guy with no talent?  It just goes to show he has absolutely NO talent.

  • Chris B

What a beautiful sentiment.  I love your view of the world and of God.

  • he is acting very irresponsibly  I am OVAH him big time. Fire him from 30 Rock, he isnt funny there and ban him from any tv or publicity at all In fact he should never be mentioned in print again. and should be forced to watch the brilliant Broadway play “The Normal Heart”…now there is talent!

  • Ignorant!

  • Ignorant!

  • Chris B

Homophobia of any kind is a form of hate, just like prejudice and other forms of bigotry.  Everyone seems to be looking at the symptoms and not the real problem, which is lack of education and too much religious indoctrination.

  • Jeffrey

So I guess you could choose to be gay then?

  • Jeffrey

the bible was created by man years a go to create law and order in a barbarian world.  The bible is the opinion of one man.

  • Anyone else notice that there are almost never any lectures thrown at women, veterans, and other groups who place themselves under the civil rights mantle, which is almost impossible to do without some minor comparison to the struggle of African Americans, because they are the gold standard in terms of progress? But when gay people *dare* to do so, we get a verbal smack down. How *dare* we?!

    Not cool.

  • Jeffrey

I think he needs to lay off the crack.

  • Chris B

I think the larger point has nothing to do with the difference in experience between black men, women, white gay men, etc.  The larger point is that any of these groups had to suffer oppression, struggle, death, imprisonment, etc.  The fact that they suffered at all is where we find the commonality.  A “who had it worse” discussion is a point of view, and is totally irrelevant and counterproductive to fixing the problem.

  • Anonymous

I think I was pretty clear. But, I will admit that it’s difficult to defend a line about stabbing one’s child, especially out of context like this. I just think that everyone is not seeing that this was not a tirade, not comparable to Michael Kramer. I can tell from reading the entry that these were scripted jokes, which then makes this a conversation of everyone’s individual style’s of humor, which is a waste of time to compare. After the line about his child coming home from being bullied, I would even bet that Tracy went into a story about how bullying was handled when he was young. That’s another thing people forget: bullying is not a new phenomenon, it’s been around, well, forever, and I think that that’s what he’s calling to light.

  • 9ether

how many times does this person  (R.F.) have to make themselves clear about their point ?  And why does someone have to have mental problem because you disagree with some of the things he said. This is why I am skeptical about outwardly supporting LGBT rights, because there are a WHOLE lot of ignorant and over emotional gay folks out there who make mountains out of mole hills. Tracy Morgan is entitled to his opinions and it’s COMEDY,,, get it comedy. People have been making black, white, latin, gay etc jokes for ages so why are some homosexuals so uptight when someone says something that they don’t like.

Lastly I do agree that any kind of oppression is wrong hands down, BUT, to lump the oppression that is STILLl going on against Black Afrikan Americans (now institutionalized) and the oppression of the LGBT community  into the same category is one of the very many reasons that alot of heterosexuals I know (myself included) don’t lend the support many in the LGBT community would like to have. You cannot compare the two, they ARE different, yes there are similarities but they are inherently different and to keep trying to blend the two not only weakens the platform of LGBT rights (which is long over due) and also diminishes the 500+ years of racial discrimination that are still being fought every day against not only Blacks but for people of all colors.

The civil rights movement did not try and lump it self into anything else but civil rights, not LGBT issues, that was the only agenda.  It disgusts me when i hear members of the LGBT community trying to convince me that my struggle as a Black African American is the same as theirs, irregardless as to whether the person saying this to me is Black or not. Stand on your on platform and the support will grow. I don’t remember the last time I saw the LGBT community fight for Black Afrikan American reparations in response to the horrific injustice of the Trans Atlantic Slave trade (which by the way is being softened and eventually phased out of the history books being taught to our children.)

Stop beating up on R.F. he is not the only person that is responding in this post, it takes two to tango. And at this ball the dance floor is packed..

  • Jeffrey

Saying that you are going to “KILL” your son if you find out he’s gay?  Where is the humor in that AT ALL???  THAT is NOT funny, or even REMOTELY funny, so please, people saying hes acting, where is the humor in that????  I have a pretty good sense of humor, and can even find humor in people oking about homosexuality, but I just can’t find the humor in that.

  • Jeffrey

Scott, please tell me where  the humor is in saying youre going toKILLl your son if you find out he’s gay.  Im for having a sense of humor an jokes, even about gays, but sorry, I just dont find that remotely funny at all.

  • jason daniels

I have read this entire thread and I must say I have become extremely frustrated by Rickey’s comments. With that said, he has argrued his point well and I feel he is far from a moron.I am a black gay man that completely disagrees with the comments of Mr. Morgan, but it is right to say whatever he wants. Just as it is you right to say what you like, but what make you any different when you go around calling people names? Let us all debate, but keep it classy. After all the LGBTQS community are better than the rest! : ) Have a good weekend all.

“Biologically, a child can be born gay. There have been many studies to that effect. ” PLEASEEEE direct me to where i can find these studies.

Some in gay ultimately because of their own choice and desire. A person may be born with a
greater susceptibility to homosexuality and even born into a homophobic family, just as some people are born
with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the
person’s choosing to sin by giving in to sinful desires. If a person is
born with a greater susceptibility to anger/rage, does that make it
right for him to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is
    true with homosexuality.

You said “that no one born into a homophobic family would choose to be homosexual. ”  Then why do people kill, steal, rape, lie. According to you . Nobody born in a world that punishes people severely for killing, stealing, etc etc,  would choose to do it. That is a perfect parallel. Unless you have some kind of disease/sickness… EVERYONE IS BORN WILL FREE WLL AND CHOOSES TO DO THE THINGS THEY DO.

  • I think an important question is whether you would listen even if someone did explain it to you?  I would hope that you would- just as I would hope that people would listen if it was scientifically proven to be a choice or due to nurture rather than nature.

There are plenty of scientific studies out there on the genetic basis for homosexuality- you can look them up on Google scholar- the best ones to rule out nurture are twin adoption studies- because these are similar genes but different family environments.  But you may choose to disregard them…

  • Jeffrey Sawyer

WTF?!  This guy is much more brain damaged and ignorant than I understood…..

  • The comparison is not to “slavery”, but to racism.

Racist bigotry is no better and no worse than anti-gay bigotry.

They’re both inexcusable and equally horrid.  Therefore is in an apt comparison, unless one wants to say that it’s worse to be racist than it is to be anti-gay…..

some black people pass for white, or “other”, some gay people “pass for straight” – just because *some* can hide from persecution doesn’t mean that their persecution, or need to hide, is any less important.

Bigotry is bigotry. They are the same. They’re both borne of ignorance, and unjustified hatred.

  • The guy is a comedian….. that’s not an offense whatsoever.

  • Anonymous

Hmmm okay thanks I’m definitely going to look in that.  I used a couple illustrations on how people have free will to choose to be what they are. Not only do i feel you can’t be born gay….i of course feel that way about being born straight. You can only be born with more   susceptibility in a certain things like sexual preference but its ULTIMATELY a persons choice.

  • wow. what a creep.

  • Lindsey Gregory

Not really helpful ‘pitting’ the struggle of the black community with that of the gay community, especially since 1) some blacks are gay and some gays are black and 2) it’s not a contest.

  • Oh yeah I am sure that when the slave ships went to Africa they only took straight slaves, I wonder how they sorted them out…….

OH you tell me they took everyone they could? Anyone who could pick cotton?
    Oh then
SO THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION HAVE GAYS EVER BEEN REMOVED FROM THEIR HOME COUNTRY AND ENSLAVED WOULD BE…… yes.

  • “My thing is that I have a personal distaste for homophobia, but that
doesn’t mean that a guy’s career should tank because of his personal
    views”

I have to wonder; If it were a white man saying these things about black people, would you feel the same?

  • Anonymous

I thought I recognized this picture!. YOu were that one-time comedian on MADTv.

  • Anonymous

He’s basically saying he wants his son to be a man. In the stereotypical machismo way. Better learn how to fight back. Of course, he’s a comedian and he says this with great exaggery and embellishment. Though, Im sure if you were at the actual show you’d know that he is not being serious about stabbing his son, rather “manliness” it’s just a commonly used trope by many comedians.

  • “called homosexuality a choice” yes, just how being straight is a choice… wait…

  • Angelina Anderson

Right, because Michael Richards is suffering with his eleventy billion dollar residuals from Seinfeld and his lucrative offers to perform at private parties for hundreds of dollars a pop.

  • Rob Cox

So a comedian insults the LGBT community, and you turn your anger on the entire state of Tennessee? I am proud to be from Tennessee and a supporter of the LGBT community. I did not support the changes in law and hopefully they will soon be overturned. Please do not lump everyone in my home state into a homophobic pile. I am sorry if you have been hurt by Mr. Morgan’s comments, but your response only makes you look like a petulant child by choosing to attack broadly instead of directly. Don’t get mad about someone else’s words unless you choose your words carefully first.

  • Would that be San Francisco?  LMAO

  • i used to work at a comedy club. most of them DO NOT let you record the performance.

You really need to read your history.

Homosexuality has been punished with brutality and murder since man could walk upright. You can’t compare the persecution of blacks in America with the WORLDWIDE AND HISTORICALLY LONG persecution of homosexuals and hermaphrodites. And the black community, especially ‘dolled up,’ materialistic black church-goers, are among the most despicably hypocritical of such hate-based groups.

    Get a clue.

  • Anonymous

No, Rickey. They killed hermaphrodites at birth. They didn’t get a chance to march, chant or form committees to air their grievances.

  • Scott Ivarrson

oh shuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut up! If this is a “Lets compare what set of people have gone through more trouble” can we just go: SLAVERY/thread because the gays will NEVER be put through something like that no matter HOW much you think.

you can hide that you’re gay… you can’t hide that you are black. this whole “Gay vs Black” thing is a joke anyway. There is NO way that you can compare what the blacks went through. I’m 99% sure gays weren’t taken from their homeland , their freedom taken away, forced to work HARD days work, learn a new language, beating….etc.

Tracey Morgan is a illiterate idiot, a sambo, tom ingrate, who too me isn’t funny. He embarrasses black culture with his limited insight and perception on life, but in today’s society black ignorance and black bafoonery is a million dollar door ticket. His remarks about gays are unacceptable. I’m not a gay man, I respect gay people, because they are human beings who have the right to choose their lifestyle.I have many friends, family members that are part of the gay community and let me tell you they are some of the most honest loving, kind hearted people who I enjoy being around without any insecurities about my manhood, love doesn’t have a gender once people’s spirit connect it doesn’t matter to what your preference on relationships are, because love is blind.I wish  coiuld say the same thing about stupidity.

Tracey Morgan burns my ears and hurts my eyes, he’s a crash dummy, clown who’s 15 minutes of fame is almost up.I hate black comics who use the word n*gga as their metaphor in their washed up routine, he really hates himself deep down, how else can we explain his verbal insults against a nation of people who didn’t do a thing to him?

  •  Apparently you watched him, sheep.

I’m kind of in shock after reading this. I can’t believe someone would try to profit off of blatant gay bashing, bullying and threats to kill his own son if he came home and said he was gay. Nothing about that is funny.

  •  Since EVERYONE now knows that homosexuality ISN’T a choice (you are born with it), what do you recommend the several MILLION gay people in the USA do?   From a “straight and devout” Christian’s point of view of course.  Very interested to know.

I think the issue is that you’re getting bogged down in the specifics of the respective situations. The truth is that both of these issues, at their root, are about oppression. It comes from the same place, and it creates the same damage.

  • Gregory Nato

What a shame is right. He is certainly entitled to his opinions, and so are we!  So when do we start boycotting 30 Rock!

  • robbw

I do not believe your Nazi illustration is a very good example.  But I noticed you then started talking about anger and rage in general, so I assume you were just trying to showcase your point using an extreme example.  I do think your illustration about being prone to anger in general is a better example.  An individual may be prone to anger or rage, but he chooses to engage in violent conduct.  As a gay man, I am sexually attracted to men and that is who I choose to have relationships with.  Could I relationships with women?  Of course I could, and there are men that do.  But would that make me straight?
That all depends on whether you believe a person’s sexuality is based on their identity or there conduct.  I personally believe that sexuality is an identity.  I will always be gay, whether or not I choose to act on it.  If a man who is sexually attracted to other men engaged in heterosexual conduct because he believed homosexuality was immoral, I would still view that individual as being gay.  Of course, everyone is allowed their own opinion on this issue, that just happens to be mine.I do not think we are going to agree on the homosexuality being a sin debate, because I am not religious.  We can just say we disagree on that point and let it alone. As for the studies, I find it unlikely that you have not already done your homework on this issue.  I assume you are waiting for someone to post a study that flat out says “X causes homosexuality and it is backed by the scientific community.”  I think we both know that there is no such study.  So in response to your question, you are correct science is still uncertain as to what definitively causes homosexuality.I agree, people are born with free will.  An individual, generally, does not have to act on his or her impulses, but I believe there is nothing wrong with being gay and engaging in homosexual conduct    (I know we will not agree on this issue either), and I believe that gays and lesbians should not be punished or forced to conform to what society deems acceptable.  (I am not suggesting you believe gays should be punished or forced to conform to what society deems acceptable.  I am suggesting that there are certain actions, such as rape, murder, or theft, which I believe society is has a significant interest in condemning.  I just do not believe homosexuality is one of them.)

  • Big deal, he made a gay joke. who cares. If your offended, dont listen. Theres more important things going on right now that raging agaisnt some comedian. Go write blogs about the shit in the middle east….

  • it bugs me that as a nation (or people) we all jump on causes such as this. Yes theres homophobia and theres a lot of hate towards it, but there more hate towards more important things. I’m not saying gay rights arnt important, im saying that (to use a recent example) Iran has a nuke and wants to wipe israel off the face of the earth. yes hicks and inbred morons from the USA’s bible belt are talking a storm about thigns but their just idiots. tollerance wont be won by making huge scenes and alienating people because “your offened”. That just bothers people. if everyone wants to live in harmony, everyone needs to just shut the hell up about this shit and live their lives. I dont care if you gay. i dont care if your straight. if you pay tax and contribute to society your fine by me

  • freonpsandoz

Funny, I always thought Tracy Morgan might be gay himself. Maybe he’s pissed that his mannerisms set off the gaydar.

  • Jeffrey

You would think that the african american community would be more accepting and understanding of where the LGBT is coming from, but it seems its the opposite way around, as if we are “stealing” the spotlight from them.  Its sad.

  • I just want to apologize for seemings like a homophobic rambler. Im not. I in no way means to offend anyone by what i said. I have a lot of respect for the ghay community for having to dseal with what they deal with. My real issue is that the jokes and quotes of one random comedian are taken and used as flak real issues go unchecked.

  • JerryD

homosexuals as victims > blacks as victims

The country has gone to shit.  No one can take a joke or tell a joke anymore.

  • Austin Larkin

I am a straight and devout Christian man.  I think homosexual acts are sinful.  That being said, Mr. Morgan’s comments are shameful and truely homophobic.  That isn’t the way to treat anyone.  In addition – the comments weren’t funny.  At all.  Oh well, never found him entertaining anyway.

  • Sheldon H

Tracy Morgan should go the way of Michael Richards (“Kramer” from Seinfeld)
after this rant. I’m sure Morgan would be the first person in line to
protest Richards’ racist rant in which he used the “N word” several
times; but since when did Black people equate any other form of bigotry
with racism? In fact, Blacks not only turned out in record numbers to
vote for Obama, while they were in the voting booth (many for the first
time in their lives), they voted for Prop 8, the law banning gay
marriage in California. There needs to be a new word for someone who’s a
bigot and a hypocrite at the same time.

  • Carlos O Spears

..wait a minute. TRACY has done a bit of photo work; in drag [make up, heels, wig] ..and then ..above. That is not only a piece or sign of questioning [ ? ] ..yeeeeeAH. Before these cutting remarks; and guess what. ‘Whatever’ personal relations he is facing [i.e.] Really his son OR himself he Can’t communicate it accurately. Oh ..by all means if somebody just has to make fun of; make judgement of somebody else’s sexual identity, to make them feel good about their own ..It’z an expression of questioning their own.

  • David Danzig

I’ve never been much of a Tracy Morgan fan, and I don’t think his rant was the least bit funny. But I also think that comedians deserve a lot of leeway to make edgy and even offensive jokes about things that make people uncomfortable. When a view becomes so forbidden that we are not allowed to sincerely express it without facing public repercussions, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. But when a viewpoint becomes so forbidden that we are not even allowed to joke about it, that’s when I become convinced that we’ve gone to far. I don’t think it’s okay to say that certain topics are off-limits for comedians, and I don’t think it’s okay to assume that a joke that a comedian makes on stage (let alone a third-hand account of that joke) is a sincere representation of what is in that person’s heart. In particular, I found the feigned “concern” of the blogger, Kevin Farrell, for Morgan’s son to be outrageous and offensive. Does anybody really think that Morgan was serious when he said on stage that he’d stab his son? It was obviously a joke, and making not-so-thinly-veiled public threats about a father losing custody of his son is absolutely not an acceptable way to respond to humor that you happen to find offensive, nor is it a persuasive way for a critic to make a point. It was far more vulgar than anything that Morgan said.Look, this guy, Tracy Morgan, is on the road working on his act.  He made bad art that I don’t like, and that I hope you don’t like either.  I think he gets that this part of his act doesn’t work, and I’d be surprised if he keeps performing this part of his act.  In my opinion, that should be the end of it–without the implied threat that he should lose custody of his child.  Every single one of us has said stupid, offensive things that we regret because we were trying to be funny, even when it wasn’t our job to stand up and try to be funny for an hour. Let he that is without sin among you cast the first stone.

I’ve never been much of a Tracy Morgan fan, and I don’t think this was the least bit funny. I’m not sure why Morgan is always referred to as a comedian when he never seems to say or do anything funny.  He’s funny looking, and has a great talent for consuming vast amounts of drugs and alcohol, but besides that he’s talentless.  I’m not sure why bigots think they can spew their vile hate and intolerance and then think a simple “I’m sawwy” makes it all better.  If this POS thinks stabbing someone to death for their sexual orientation is funny, maybe someone should stab him to death for his.

As a professional comedian, I can only say this:  Its not that one CANT TAKE a joke…It’s more like you CANT TELL a joke.  End of story.

Tracy Morgan is a total idiot; but while the LGBT community pushes for rights, it needs to remember that he HAS a right to say those things and there is zero right to not be offended.

You can’t use one side of your mouth to preach for the right to marry, serve in the military, this/that/the other yet with the other say he can’t be allowed to say those things.  He looks like an a-hole and you look like a hypocritical prick.

  • Rachel Tyson

Well he’s right about one thing, thy way to deal with bullies is to stand up for yourself, not hide behind unenforcable laws. Armed gays don’t get bashed.
    The rest is fucked up.

tracy morgan shouldn’t be putting kids in the world if he acts like that and i don’t know why bigots don’t think anything’s wrong with them. there’s nothing wrong with being gay or black but there is plenty wrong with being a close minded empty headed  bigot. you fools don’t run the world.

  • If it was one of us “Gays” who started slamming on the hetrosexuals, or some other big topic,  do you think there would be a big Hoo ha.  You’re damn right.  So why shouldn’t we get upset when someone starts slagging off about us? Fair is fair. It just shows what a cowardly excuse for a human being he is…My cat has better manners. And as for his comment about God…The bible says God made man in his own image….thats means God is White, Black, Asian, Indian, and Mediterranean, has black, brown, blonde and red hair, has blue, brown, green, and hazel eye, and is straight and gay.  Yep thought so. We were meant to be..

    It gets better, Tracy!

  • Apologize? Apologize for being a hate filled bigot?  No. I don’t think so.  It doesn’t cut it.  He needs to be fired.  Then deal with his hatred on his own time.

  • Ashley Valencia

Disgusting and hateful. I have no comment about this because, well geezus, what can I say? This almost made me throw up, I feel so sick…..

  • Now watch some transvestite hooke come out and say he slept with Him LMFAO

I could’ve sworn Tracy Morgan was at least a little queer. Homophobia is deeply conditioned, Tracy Morgan didn’t invent it although he is perpetuating it. If his apology were not just PR but was sincere, I’d accept it if he then took accountability measures towards educating himself and de-conditioning his homophobia and became an Ally.

I do believe in forgiving people and giving them second chances if they are willing to learn and grow. Imagine it from Tracy Morgan’s perspective. Few of us were born with any kind of clarity of vision, and Lord knows you’re not going to get it from this culture, and you’re not going to get it from the comedy industry.

Assuming he didn’t have access to a higher education institution where he’d be educated on these topics, and there were no visible groups or institutions that he had contact with growing up that worked towards making queer-safe spaces and dealing with queer issues, he’s just mouthing ideas that are not uniquely his.

  • Michael

It is really beyond me how someone like Tracy Morgan became so popular in States or anywhere, as far as I am concerned. I think it is a bit strange people can be openly against something as private as the sexual preference of another person. After reading his tirade about gays, I went to youtube and listened to 3 seconds of one of his comedy routines. It was vulgar, tasteless and disgusting. I was more shocked to see full houses buying tickets to listen and laugh and such vulgarity. As far as his comment about his son, I pity any woman who would have a child with someone like that, even worse I feel sorry far a child that has to grow up in that kind of enviroment and say “Dad” to such a person. Call me old fashioned, boring, but there are definitely other ways of getting me to laugh.

  • I always thought Tracy seemed a little Gay. I suppose this is confirmed now, only closet cases are homophobes that KNOW being gay is a choice.

  • lambda98

What an ignorant piece of crap your posting is: Many gay churches have been bombed; many gay people have been murdered simply for being gay; many people across the centuries have been executed simply for being homosexual; thousands of gay people perished in the Holocaust; thousands of people in the United States have been imprisoned simply for being homosexual (and those laws were not declared unconstitutional until 2003). You are so ignorant, you must have been educated in Detroit public schools.

  • lambda98

You are so stupid. I am sure that no Black person alive in the United States has been taken from their homeland, their freedom taken away, etc. etc. Your relying on something that happened more than a hundred years ago is very lame. I suppose you found it very hard to be a slave, didn’t you?

  • PK Son

Normally, I just leave people alone to their delusions, but seriously.. “God made them that way?” If you think “god” is synonymous to “nature” then, OK. Otherwise.. You should know that you are disgusting as well.

HOMOHPHOBIA = DISCRIMINATION = RACISM. HE SHOULD KNOW HOW DISCRIMINATION FEELS! HE IS A RAGING DISCRIMINATING BIGOT! HE’S PROBABLY CLOSETED HIMSELF AND IS A SELF HATING GAY I AM GAY AND I CANNOT STAND SELF HATING PEOPLE WHO TRY AND TAKE US DOWN WITH HIM!

If were his son and came out, like he said he would stab me to death repeadetly and i’d be dead.

I am gay gay and God Loves us cause he keeps making us! =D

  • I have never liked Tracy Morgan. His voice annoys the hell out of me and his jokes are a joke in itself, they are not even close to funny. Trust, anything I have ever seen with Tracy Morgan in it, I was not watching it because of him.

  • Why does her sweet belief in a loving God make her disgusting, PKSon? That makes absolutely no sense.

    No seriously, please explain.

tracy moron(sp.) said he would stab is kid if his kid came out as gay…….

What type of parent would joke about that?

When you start talking about how you would take your own child’s life many would question you logic/safety/reason as a parent.

Like Wanda Sykes said when asked that question is it harder to be black or lesbian? To which she replied

“ Well in our current times its harder to be LGBT , there are not all kinds of hate groups with millions of dollars of funding[ Christian fundamentalist groups etc etc]  , against my being black or trying to stop me from showing my blackness…..This was paraphrased ….   See it on youtube. CNN interview with Wanda Sykes.

I know some people say to skate the issue of race and being gay but for “ME” they are linked…Yes some parts of the race thing might be the past, but I live and deal the issues of both every day.

I am mixed race being gay is like being mixed for me. Being gay man, some people want to take away rights from me…. Just like years ago my parents could have been prosecuted for sleeping together and making me.
The civil rights issues, are just that therefore in some ways the struggles are similar.      A gross injustice.

With all the recent suicides and and bashings , against LGBT youth and adults, it was really disgusting for anyone in the media to display this level of hate, not dis-like, like sarah palin said respectfully she does not believe in gay marriage, according to her marriage is between a man and woman. Thats fine that is the first amendment at work. Not defending that ding bat( good ‘Ol Sara, don’t cha know) just making point. People take this freedom of speech and run with it, from protesting at a dead soldiers funeral to preaching hate of one race or another…. As I have said before SAY WHAT YOU WILL (even what I think of as hate) IN A RESPECTFUL WAY!

Look up the you tube video did you chose to be straight? Where people are asked is being gay a choice ? and some say yes its a choice, then they ask these same people when did you chose to be straight? Its not a damm choice , I did not chose to be mixed …A man and a woman met and made me, mixed , no one asked me. Just like no one asked gee do you want to be gay? …Its not a choice for me at least.

  • There are limits to freedom of speech. The most commonly cited example is the prohibition against yelling “fire” in a crowded theater. Taking a place of authority on the (figurative) national stage to declare the intention to perform a criminal act (stabbing his son) is not only hate speech, but it is itself, a crime. Andrew_OH said he should be given leeway to say whatever he likes because he is a comedian, but it’s not a license to kill or to declare one’s intention to kill. Likewise, everyone I’ve read who saw the performance (including Morgan himself) said that it was evident that his intention was not comedic.

Also, on a less legalistic bent, because of his position of power from that national stage, his speech will not only encourage hate crimes against queer and trans youth by those who listen to him, but it is also a hate crime *itself* against the queer/trans youth that heard or read his garbage. It is not an exaggeration to say that people will *literally die* because of what Morgan said.

Queer youth are many times more likely (than their straight peers) to commit suicide or enact parasuicidal behavior because they hear this kind of crap from people around them. Try to convince the not yet fully mature brain of a gay 16yo that his hero’s admonishment that he or she is worthless and deserves to be murdered because they queer, means anything less than literally that.

Screw firing the a**hole and take him to criminal court.

Morgan is a no talent douchebag.  He doesn’t just play stupid, he IS stupid.
Unfortunately, this is the view of many black communities here and around the world [but, of course, not all].  When is the gay community going to stand up and DEMAND thier civil rights.
We start getting them and then states vote to take them away.  When is NY state going to support gay marriage? NY City is the gayest city in america [except for maybe San Fran].  When are we going to DEMAND OUR civil rights?

  • Anonymous

I live in the now, yesterday’s wrong ways taught me what I should not repeat in the future.

A way to stop hate and civil rights violations now and in the future, is to remember the patterns of what led to the past hate and civil rights violations and oppression.

The idea of this man stating he would harm his own child is upsetting, Gay,Martian, or other….. Its upsetting to think of a parent being that moronic, demonic and evil  Period…!!!!

he has learned nothing from the hate his African American ancestors endured.
And now the hate we endure as LGBT community, tracy moron helps to fuel.

It seems sort of a way for the whole LGBT / African American-race thing to get tangled in this, tracy moron would destroy/oppress  his own son or Me for being gay as his ancestors were destroyed/oppressed for being African American/black.

The endpoint should be tragedy of oppression is apparent and oppression should not be repeated now or in the future.

  • Black men are the most likely to be “closet cases” than any other race from what I have seen, so this lil outburst from him really gets you thinking that he doth protest to much.

  • In answer to your first question, I have been attacked and beatin up and raped to “make me straight” I also personally know of people were killed for being Gay, o dont even go there.
The “horrors” that happened to the blacks is just that…HAPPENED. Now there are laws that protect you. There are new victims now and they happen to be gays of all colors.

  • To what end? So you can continue to be thoroughly unconvinced? Yeah, okay.

  • To what end? So you can continue to be thoroughly unconvinced? Yeah, okay.

If Tracy doesn’t like gays, who gives a f)(k.  I don’t understand why the gays want to force people to like you?

  • Edward

Huh?  What?  Was this a real comment, or for comic relief?

  • Edward

He said it, “he would kill his child”………….let his comments die as hopefully his career will also.  A comment like this should not be brought up again….and again….and again.  It just validates it.

  • Scott Thompson

Being aware of something is not a fault. Anyone’s interest in a subject, even if it is something they find distasteful, can’t be faulted. That person would be a sheep if they just assumed he was bad.

  • He is the mistake. Look at that face!

  • Luinne D’Llard

You know, Tracy, there are lots of gays who are bigger than you.  Stronger, meaner, and more well equipped.  More skilled and highly trained in the art of doing great damage to other people for one reason or another.  For those gays, such as myself, you’re what we like to call ‘just cause’.

It always surprises me when blacks show such hatred for gays/lesbians. The ONE advantage? that blacks have is that they were BORN black and it’s obvious to the world. Maybe if gays and lesbians were born pink….it would make it easier to believe that we ARE, indeed, BORN THIS WAY. What are you afraid of Mr. Morgan? Only fear would make you say and think such things…just as when blacks were kept in cages and treated like animals because of their differences. Ever have relations with a WHITE woman, Mr. Morgan? Not too long ago, this would be cause enough to beat you and , sometimes, hang you. Why? Because people that were AFRAID of something they couldn’t and didnt want to understand did the first thing that came to their little, primitive brains……In stead of embracing the differences our races share, they chose to act violently and put more hatred, pain, sadness and death/injury in the world. You may have been BORN black but you must have smoked yourself STUPID ! I hope your son never looks up to you or sees you as an example of anything other than what you truly are- a perpetrator of hate and ignorance. There are little girls and boys that KNOW they are gay at a very early age. Some people don’t figure it out until later in life…..but in hindsight, it’s always more than clear that we were born gay. We are proud to be gay. Without gays and lesbians in the world, you wouldn’t have HALF the beauty and creativity, entertainment that you now are privileged to experience….The world is a better place than it was 50 years ago because we have learned to accept and embrace others FOR, not in spite of, their differences. Love is unstoppable and YOUR hatred will only expedite your career’s demise. Love is the light in which hatred cannot exist. If this ignorance and hatred goes on much longer, gays and lesbians WILL rise and WILL fight back. How many suicides does it take for us to finally bully the bullies? If violence is the only thing you CROMAGNUM idiots understand……perhaps you deserve some real clarity.
