A Journalist Tweeted the Long List of Women Who Have Accused Donald Trump of Sexual Assault

Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein is getting a lot of ink over the many accusations of sexual assault levied against him. But we shouldn’t pretend that Weinstein’s a lone bad apple. As we’ve seen with Devin Faraci, Harry Knowles and now Ben Affleck, there are a number of accused men that illustrate that sexual harassment and assault are problems with our entire culture. And it’s not just Hollywood — President Trump himself has a number of accusations too. And we’re not just talking about the infamous “grab ’em by the pussy” recording.

Earlier this week, Judd Legum, the founder and editor-in-chief of Think Progress tweeted out a list of the women who have accused Trump of sexual harassment and assault.

Legum wrote:

When Trump became president, people stopped talking much about the numerous women who alleged he sexually assaulted them.  But just because he’s president, doesn’t make these women unimportant. Seems like a good time to remember each one.

Ninni Laaksonen, former Miss Finland. “Trump stood right next to me and suddenly he squeezed my butt” in July 2006.

Jessica Drake. Said Trump grabbed and kissed her without consent, then offered her 10K for sex in 2006.

Karena Virginia. Says she was groped by Trump at the U.S. Open in 1998.

Cathy Heller. Says Trump grabbed her and attempted to kiss her at Mar-a-lago in 1997.

Summer Zervos. Apprentice contestant says Trump started kissing her and grabbing her breasts, began “thrusting his genitals.” 2007.

Kristin Anderson. Said Trump reached under her skirt and grabbed her vagina through her underwear in the early 1990s.

Jessica Leeds. Said Trump lifted up the armrest, grabbed her breasts and reached his hand up her skirt in the early 1980s.

Rachel Crooks. Says she was assaulted by Trump in an elevator in Trump Tower in 2005.

Mindy McGillivray. Says Trump groped her while she was attending a concert at Mar-a-lago in 2003.

Natasha Stoynoff. Says Trump pushed her against a wall and jammed his tongue down her throat at Mar-a-lago in 2005.

Jennifer Murphy. Apprentice contestant says Trump kissed her on the lips after a job interview in 2005.

Cassandra Searles. Says Trump grabbed her ass and invited her to his hotel room in 2013.

Temple Taggart McDowell. Former Miss Utah says Trump kissed her directly on the lips the first time she met him in 1997.

Jill Harth. Says Trump repeatedly sexually harassed her and groped her underneath a table in 1993.

That’s the end of this list. These are just the women who have come forward publicly.

That final sentence is one of the most damning. One of the women Legum doesn’t include on his list — because she hasn’t been named — is “Jane Doe.” Doe accused Trump and investor Jeffrey Epstein of raping her as a 13-year-old. Unfortunately, due to threats, Doe has gone into hiding. (There was another suit filed over the alleged rapes from someone named Katie Johnson — it’s unclear if Johnson is Jane Doe or another woman.)

Though Legum’s list of 14 women is damning enough, remember — those are just the women who came forward. Many women don’t come forward after sexual assault for a variety of reasons. Some women don’t come forward because of fear of reprisal, a belief the police wouldn’t or couldn’t help and a fear of the justice system.

When combined with the high profile of the accused, one can’t help but imagine those fears are magnified.
