Gay travel bloggers Nomadic Boys say Berlin is super gay— and who are we to disagree? But if you want proof, how’s this? Schoneberg has been the heart of the gay community since the 1920s when it became the first ever gay village. Of course Schoneberg has many gay bars and clubs to choose from — whatever you are into, you’ll find it.
Outside of Schoneberg, alternative gay scenes have started to spring up in the East over the past 20 years — particularly Kreuzberg, Neukolln and Friedrichshain. It’s super easy to find popular gay hangouts in these neighborhoods.
It’s not all good news in Germany though — while same-sex partnership was legalized in 2001, Germany has yet to legalize same-sex marriage. Surprising, considering recent polls have indicated that a majority of Germans support it.
Of course — we know you’re not necessarily looking to get married in Berlin. You want naughty fun — and here’s the best places we’ve found to get laid:
Ficken 3000 is a fun bar with different theme nights. You’ll want to check out the Ficken 3000 basement…. if you’re looking for some sleazy, uninhibited adventure!
Berlin’s hidden gem is Reizbar, an amazing leather bar with gorgeous and intriguing artwork. If you’re not interested in looking at art, though, you may find Reizbar’s darkroom the place to be.
If you’ve got hang ups, Große Freiheit 114 might not be for you. It’s a very safe environment for play, however, and all fetishes are welcome. Between sessions, you can hang out on the patio or in the bar. And, well, if you’re looking for more discreet fun, you can play with strangers in the guest room.
Taking its name from San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair, Folsom Europe is Europe’s biggest fetish event. While it’s wrapping up this year on September 12, Folsom Europe takes place every year in early September. Like its namesake, Folsom Europe caters to the leather crowd — but ultimately it’s a big party you won’t want to miss. You will lose your inhibitions… whether you want them back is up to you.
B:EAST is the newest techno night at Magdalena, Berlin’s hottest new club. With amazing DJs spinning, this club is the go-to spot to dance the night away.
With its clean steam room, whirlpool, massage and spa area, Boiler’s a modern facility built for relaxation. While Boiler’s got a dark room for discreet sex, there’s always lots of action in the steam.
