Meet the Guy Who Donned Stilettos as Deadpool in the New Céline Dion Music Video

Yesterday, we told you about the amazing new music video for “Ashes,” Céline Dion’s contribution to the Deadpool 2 soundtrack. If, for some reason, you haven’t seen it — which is increasingly unlikely considering it’s currently #1 on YouTube’s trending chart — the video features Dion singing on stage while Deadpool breaks out some sensual dance moves. At the time, the identity of the Deadpool dancer was secret — but now it can be told. That wasn’t Ryan Reynolds busting the moves, but openly gay dancer Yanis Marshall.
Earlier today, Marshall shared a post from Ryan Reynolds where the actor confirmed that it wasn’t him dancing. Reynolds wrote:
Ever wonder, “How does Ryan Reynolds dance so beautifully? Did he have eight bones surgically removed from his body in order to move as if a graceful swan had sex with Fred Astaire?” The answer my surprise you. Yes. I did have eight bones removed from my body. But the dancing was all Yanis Marshall. This man is not just a dancer… he’s an elite athlete, hero and all-around hilarious person. Follow him on Instagram. Put him in movies. Throw confetti at his feet when you see him. He is a gift to this weary world.
We agree — we were so impressed by his dancing in the “Ashes” video, we had to find out more. And he’s a truly impressive guy.
A 2014 finalist on Britain’s Got Talent, he’s danced all around the world. He’s appeared on the French version of Dancing With the Stars as a coach and choreographed the Ukraine’s version of So You Think You Can Dance. And now he’s the choreographer for Cirque du Soleil’s Las Vegas Zumanity show, a sexually charged show which features same-sex romances in its acrobatic scenes.
Of course, Reynolds was at the “Ashes” shoot — that’s him during the hilarious coda. And as you may have guessed from Reynolds’ post, the two men got along really well. But as a wise man once said, “It takes two to make a thing go right”:
