West Hollywood, CA, May 24, 2024 — Hornet, the world’s leading queer tech company, continues its pledge to safety and inclusivity in digital spaces—especially for LGBTQ+ communities around the globe. This past week, Hornet Founder and CEO Christof Wittig represented the company at the Global Dating Insights Conference in New York, joining a panel discussion on the role of technology in preventing online gender-based violence.

The panel, “Tech’s Role in Preventing Online Gender-Based Violence,” brought together leaders from across the industry to explore how platforms can better protect users. Moderated by Eve Kraicer, Policy Manager for Online Safety at UK regulator Ofcom, the discussion included Brie Temple of Tawkify, Heather Hopkins of Hulah, Mark Schlosser of Checkr Trust, and Wittig from Hornet.

Wittig emphasized Hornet’s proactive safety strategy, which includes AI-powered moderation, community-led protections, and geofencing tools to safeguard users in high-risk regions. He also addressed the evolving nature of gender-based violence online, noting that users increasingly demand stronger accountability from platforms.

“Online gender-based violence is an urgent challenge, particularly in LGBTQ+ spaces where users remain vulnerable,” said Wittig. “At Hornet, we are committed to building safer, more inclusive digital environments through technology, community engagement, and advocacy.”

Hornet’s Safety Pledge outlines its commitment to protecting LGBTQ+ users worldwide and creating a space where everyone can connect authentically and securely.
