Get Slammed by These 15 Sexy Pics of Newly Out Pro Wrestler Jake Atlas
After recently winning the 2017 Southern California Rookie of the Year award, 23-year-old indie pro wrestler Jake Atlas came out as gay.
His interest in wrestling started when his parents took him and his older brother to see lucha libre wrestling in Mexico as a toddler. At age seven, he began learning about other wrestling styles and leagues.
“Being an athlete and participating in sports my entire life, it was only natural that I’d be hooked on something that combined adrenaline, performance and acrobatics,” Atlas said. “My background in gymnastics and cheerleading gave me the ability to make an easy transition into professional wrestling in 2014.”
By 2014, he started training three to four times a week at the Santino Bros Wrestling Academy in Los Angeles until his pro debut on Aug. 6, 2016.

Atlas realized his same-sex attractive from an early age, but felt lots of self-loathing. He’d actively bully boys he felt attracted to. When he came out to his mom and older brother in 2010, it went badly. “There were tears, silence, negligence and hate cast all over my small family for months and years to come,” he said.
His mother suggested that he keep his sexuality a secret because no one would care if he came out. He also feared that coming out might keep him from one day achieving his life’s dream of competing in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

“Wrestling is also a very masculine sport that is sometimes not the most progressive. I was afraid of any hate, backlash and rejection from it,” Atlas said.
After winning the2017 Southern California Rookie of the Year award, Atlas came out in a Jan. 25, 2018 tweet stating that he wanted to come out “to be a voice for those that struggle with this issue like I have for many, many years; to be a voice that reminds everyone in the same shoes that there is nothing you cannot achieve.”

Atlas also struggles with depression and anxiety. He contemplated suicide after a potentially career-ending broken neck injury in 2015 and says he’s very single, though he’s focused primarily on wrestling for now.
