These Vintage Gay Club Matchbooks Are Lit

Dangerous Minds put together a collection of vintage gay club matchbooks from old leather bars, drag shows and a lesbian hangout “where girls can be boys.”
It’s a great peek into queer history, a topic you probably didn’t learn about in school. Our personal favorite is from drag queen pianist Sir Lawrence Lawson. He says, “Every time you light your reefer you will see my message and you’ll remember that I’m thinking of you.”
For you Millennial readers: before smoking was banned everywhere, nightclubs used to print and hand out matchbooks as a sort of marketing tool. People would collect them and trade them.
Check out the full collection over at Dangerous Minds.
